Another great and informative video mate. I brought a 83 K100RS a month ago, a week after I finished watching your BMW series. Keep up the great work, I refer to your videos as much as the workshop manual and I look forward to getting to the wiring because of your content. Motogadget should sponsor the build of your black K100 after all the sales I'm sure they will make due to your videos. Your electrical videos due to your background and knowledge are a notch above anything else out their so a multi-meter video would be great. Thanks for all the effort you put in.

thanks for your awesome videos. they've been really helpful with my 86 k100 build. I have a question as there are some differences between your wiring setup and Ben's Eighty 20 videos. From the Ignition module there is a brown and red wire that he shows connecting to the ground side of the starter relay. You show the ground simply going to earth on the bike. In your setup where are you connecting the brown and red wire from the Ignition module? I'm setup per your diagrams but I'm not getting spark so trying to troubleshoot that. thanks again for the great videos.

Hey, really loving this serie so far and its really gonna help my build on my k100rs with an m unit. I was wonder what Battery are you using to power the bike up? Looking at a smaller Lithium one but dont know which to choose. Cheers and keep up the great work!

Mikey these videos are brilliant and I'm about to cut into my loom! Wish me luck but I've got mostly the same as your fitting so I'm sure it'll be fine. One question is what guage battery/ ground wire are you using AWG and/or mm, as I'm in UK?
@mikeyfrompiha3 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard , glad you liking the videos , as for cable sizing i used 10mm2 or 8awg for everything of high current draw , for example battery , starter motor and all grounds , Haynes manual shows 6mm2 or 10awg , i think i used 10mm2 just because thats what i had available in my workvan , hope this helps and good luck with your build !
@Nefarious28703 жыл бұрын
@@mikeyfrompiha Cheers buddy, I may split the difference and go with 8mm2 as it'll be much more than needed and it available. 👍

Hi Mike, In regards to your M-Unit wiring videos. Can you advise me if the OEM Speed Sensor works with the M-Unit and the Motoscope Pro? Hope you can help me. Thanks Andy
@mikeyfrompiha2 жыл бұрын
i used the one that came with the m unit , it was easier , think you have to have some circuit board to convert the bmw signal to one the motogadget unit can read , so i didnt go down that road

Hi Mikey. What size cable are you using for the heavy draw on the starter relay circuit. And is it automotive cable or your electrical stock from the van ?? Thanks mate 👍
@mikeyfrompiha4 жыл бұрын
Hello , its a 6mm2 flex (not sure what that is in AWG) it was some cable I had left over from a job wiring a 3 phase motor , the motor is a submerged hydraulic pump so the cable insulation is rated to be ok with oil and other chemicals , if you had to go buy some cable I would go to an Automotive electrical business , don't buy the stuff from a hardware shop .

Hi Mikey, I've got around to making up my loom. Working off your drawing and checking as I go. I noticed pin 9 on the ECU goes off to the mass flow but on the original wiring diagram I noticed 12v from the ignition. My question is do I need to run a feed to pin 9 ??
@mikeyfrompiha4 жыл бұрын
@@jamiebanks374 Hello Jamie ,yes 12v+ to pin 9 , it feeds the fuel injection module and the mass air flow sensor and the injectors and the throttle position switch , find the green with a red stripe and you are golden ! Good luck

Great videos, they have been very helpful for my build. I have a couple of questions - 1. How are you getting away with not using a fuel injector relay? 2. Do you know how to get the neutral indicator light working with the Motoscope pro, I can get the light to come up by grounding all three yellow + other coloured wires coming out of the gear box but not sure how to wire it up. I have read on forums that the only way to get it to work is to buy an after market mod (see link) to get it working. OR can I just not hook it up? Thanks in advance for your help! cafe4racer.eu/en/bmw-cap-monza-universal-parts/888-ebaling-neutral-start-on-bmw-k100-k1100-k75-series-acewell.html
@mikeyfrompiha4 жыл бұрын
Hello there , ok question 1 , the old fuel injection relay is just that , a relay that sends power to the injectors / fuel pump etc ,,, well the motogadget outputs do exactly that , they trun on and send power to the injectors and fuel pump , and when you hit the "kill" switch it turns them off . Question 2, if you go watch my other series and this video in particular kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp2bmp-ooLqJl5I , you will see me explain how I got my neutral switch working with out using the stock BMW gear box switch , if you do decide to use the stock BMW switch then yes you have to buy an aftermarket unit to get the neutral light to work , some people don't even bother with the neutral ight ,,, hope this helps you out !

@@mikeyfrompiha hee Mikey, great video again! I was wondering about the fuel pump relay aswell. My understanding was that without the fuel pump relay, the pump will keep on running with the key turned, even before the motor starts. Is that correct? And if so, will the relay prevent that?
