Quick tip for making this type of connection look very clean: Put solder on the end so the individual wires stay together and then use heat shrink to only expose as much as you need. Makes it look very neat and clean compared to just having a stripped wired.

3 year old train but sharing is caring: You shouldn’t solder wires that go into clamped (spring or screw clamped) terminals. This is well known in industry. The solder will slowly cold flow and/or deform under pressure and leave you with a connection that slowly (and intermittently) goes faulty. Crimped ferrules are better and nothing is actually best from a connector stand point. All this is most important for connection transmitting power (like your headlight)

With the keyless go, can it be bypassed by using a key if your phone dies while you're out?
@badazzmaro
@badazzmaro 11 ай бұрын
That was actually my first question, I suppose this system is for people who want if someone wants a really clean look at they could completely avoid it needing a key they would do it so I would say having a backup fob might be an option there too, I mean it's a neat concept that all you need is your phone except for when it doesn't work which things tend to do

If this unit could use only one momentary button to do different functions like the NWT x21 then this PMU would be the best. But not having this function and having to clutter the bars with multiple buttons is a downer.

Great review 🤟🏻 The build quality on these products are unreal as expected from the Germans. One note to mention is a full setup of motogadget will set you back around £1500 (all depends on accessories) It’s a lot of money for something you can’t see someone once told me, but in my opinion well worth it. The hardest thing to do with a custom build is make is look clean and simple. Often the cleaner the build is the more it costs and most folk don’t realise this. Motogadet allows you to have this effortlessly. Looking forward to seeing more 👍

I agree with your comments, Moto Gadget gear is excellent quality but it is expensive. I have one of the early m units on my 74 CB550 with ‘M Blaze’ indicators that cost a packet all together. And your right, ones the wiring is done and the M unit is out of sight, it is quickly forgotten, I mean, how many times are you gonna change the way your lights flash after your done, you just want to ride the thing!

I doubt the device will quit working if the app goes offline. You'll just lose the ability to customize the settings. It will still be serving its purpose of cleaning up your wiring as long as it's installed.... also in 30 years, we'll have AI that'll be able to create a custom software to run whatever piece of hardware you may need.

I am changing the loom of one of my Yamaha FZR 1000 Exup, this one from 1989. It was rebuild in 1991 to a naked, a monster bike years before Ducati came with one. Now I am doing it again to get away of the massive loom going to the dash, lights and so on. To make it neither I am splitting the loom up in two seven wires looms and one earth one. So three smaller looms go to the front above the radiator. But this unit seems to be a better way, so for the next FZR maybe I will give that one a go.

Any mechanic will tell you that wiring might be one of the most frustrating things in a rebuild, but it does not have to be, and no I do not work for the company but the fact that someone has made their brain child available for us common folk is very humbling. It reduces your loom to next to nothing, just for that it's worth it.

Great review Dan! I too am a huge fan of all that motogadget makes. I’m loving your build so far and it continues to be an inspiration for mine. I’m currently doing my electronics as well.

I've fitted the M Unit Blue to me 1967 Dnepr K650, and it works great. The only thing i'm stuck on is connecting the 2 wire B&W built in regulator /alternator wires (obviouly the black wire goes to the battery - but where would I connect the red wire to the ignition or M Unit Blue. As the ignition runs straight to the M Unit, so Im unsure as to were I would connent the red wire. Any help on this matter guys would be greatly appricated. Cheers Jeff

Hi Dan ! Have been following you for a while. I got a 1993 cb seven fifty. Looking forward to buy mo.unit ! I have some question. Do you still need a key ? Or do you need the mo.lock ? What about if you forgot your phone haha ? Very good content ! Cheers from Mexico !

That’s awesome dude and to answer your questions no you don’t need a key. And you won’t need the Mo.lock, however, having said that you do have a couple of options here, You can purchase the Mo.lock with the glass tube that can be sewn into a glove and works the same as the transponder key so you don’t have to have any keys on you. You can also set up an override ignition in case you lose your phone or don’t have it with you or it goes flat. I hope that answers all of your questions. Have a great day mate

Hello Dan, great video as usual. I'm wiring my Munit at the moment. I'm using the supplied feral crimps with the wiring kit. I'm finding that the 2.5mm output cables like the blue starter circuit don't hold in, just a simple pull on the wire they fall out. Am I doing something wrong? Are you using the ferals? Other question on the Mbutton I've got clip on bars, can you use 2x Mbutton? Do you think it will work with two Mbutton's plugged in? I'm thinking it will.

1st time viewer. commenting very early in the video but that intro is fire. + i have one of these and it has revolutionized my bike. There's a lot of cool features you can control from your phone, and when i make the lights dance from across the parking lot, seemingly by magic, people are naturally impressed. plus all the security features are pretty slick (when random ppl comment on it as i'm walking up to it, I'll be like ya, touch the handle bars and see what happens lol, they all get scared). pricey but if you're rebuilding worth every single penny, if not for the features, for the simplicity of wiring, if you know how to ground a wire, and read a manual you good to go. programmed most of it on cheap amazon bar buttons with no issues.

Would this give me the capability to run like a morimoto super7 headlight? Or would I need to upgrade the charging system also? And how well is it roadworthy? I ride a hour to work one way and put a lot of miles on riding season. I’ll put 1200 miles a week just going to work.
