I am not even going to bother asking how did you get to master the skill of opening filler caps so effortlessly. 😄It's a shame the old girl's gone, but I am sure the memories associated with the bike will put a smile on your face every now and then. Terrific video Vlad! Loved watching it. I always get excited when I see you posting new videos. Sorry for your loss (your friend) and now the departure with your bike. I had a bike I loved a lot and sold, and I still keep it next to my heart as a memory. Life is too short to stick with one bike though, this is my current philosophy, so you'll be open to more adventures this way, in my opinion. Take care and I look forward to your next post!

It’s his character that left a greater mark than his barn full of bikes. Take a check sometimes on the pressure regulator. Mine had dirt and petrol all over the motor. Always a goos idea to also change the fuelpump in a bike had not run for years. The shit in the old petrol is not good for a fuelpump.

Dirty injectors? If so try using the BMW fuel cleaner. I've found that AFT is good to use as an injector cleaner, but it doesn't work fast. It takes a lot of miles, but it will clean the injectors in time. Add about 8 oz to a tank of gas. Then you also want to look for air leaks in old rubber hoses and such. Mainly it sounds like dirty injectors. The symptoms of bad injectors is so much like spark plugs since each one feeds one cylinder. First symptoms are bad fuel mileage, then hard starting, then later on it won't run when you open the throttle, sputter and all the rest. Just dirty, usually.

Hey there. Thanks for your comment. Had the injectors cleaned off the bike at some point so they shouldn’t be too bad. If you watch the video towards the end, the fuel pump was the issue, and the new one solved it 🙂

You have water in your tank. You should clean or have cleaned and tested your injectors and replace your regulator. THe regulator is behind the radiator on top of the engine.

Cleaned the fuel tank as I showed at the end. The bike ran fine with the new fuel pump. Regulator might not be the best, but it maintains the right pressure so I left it alone at the time 🙂

It was interesting, I didn't know the K series fuel pump assy. was removable through the filler. I don't think the Lambda has any effect on starting but I'm not familiar with that Efi system so I may be talking B's. A K is one of the few BMW's I'd actually consider owning, perhaps because of the quirky brick engine. You're old mate would be happy that you saved her for someone who wanted one rather than be broken for parts.

Hey there. Thanks for your comment :) Depends which model of K. The newer ones with plastic tanks have an access hatch on one side. This bike doesn’t have a lambda/O2 sensor. That’s what I mean by open loop system, so the mixture is not as reliable and easy to throw off track. They are great bikes, and the fact that they are so different makes it even more interesting. I’m sure you won’t regret it if you get one :)

Just so you know the issue is that your regulator is not holding the pressure. Your pressure drops off right away and it should hold that pressure after you turn off the bike. Or your injectors are leaking into the cylinder! The pump is fine. It is doing its job.

Hey there. Thanks for your comment. You can see towards the end of the video, the new pump did sort out the issue. The pressure dropping off was due to the faulty fuel pump, not the regulator 🙂

most of the time it's the fuelfilter. if you on the electricity, you can hear the fuelpump make sound. i would first replace the fuelfilter

Hey there. Thanks for your comment. The fuel filter the bike had was quite new, but put a new one with the fuel pump anyway. You can see at the end the new fuel pump solved the issue 🙂 And it got rid of that very annoying whine 😁

Great video. My K1100 has been under cover for the winter. I'm not getting the whirring sound when switching the ignition on so the fuel pump is not priming. I've checked the fuse and wiring. All appears ok....any suggestions? Thanks

Hey there. Thanks for your comment. Sorry to start with the silly stuff. Is the gear indicator still working and is the side stand up and it’s switch working? If all checks out I’d start at the pump to see if it’s getting power and work from there 🙂

@@garage_tales Thanks for the reply. The answer is yes to both, so I've now drained the fuel and taken the tank off because two of the fuel cap screws have rounded off. When I've sorted those then I can get into the tank and get the pump and filter out to see whats wrong

Multiple reasons I guess. I had to move house in the near future then (moved now) so I wanted to downsize and preferred the Triumph. I guess I was a bit bored of it as well to be honest. I had it for years and it just runs, starts every time (except the fuel pump issue) , did pretty much nothing except general maintenance, rides very stable, very comfortable, good weather protection, very practical with the panniers….booooring 😂 I do miss it sometimes, but I don’t necessarily miss riding it if that makes sense 🤷‍♂️
