Thanks a million! The dealership was asking some 90 bucks a tire and I was "oh I don't think so". Helped immensely 🙂

Thanks again Kirk. I also checked out your steering damper video. Thank God I didn’t have to use a torch to remove the bolt you said is very hard to remove. Anyway I removed the tire with no problem thanks to your video.

Just put on a tire and balanced it with a Harbor Freight kit. Sure wasn't quick. Amazing how the time went by. Poured myself a beverage and watched the thing spin.

Very nice job Kirk; I suppose to do this kind of job last month due to pressure loose in my tire and I was working harder with air valve because I did not know how to remove the front wheel. Now all clear with this, appreciate and respect from Constanta/ROMANIA. PS ... as Mario Weidler ...I have same request for video of removing the rear wheel.

I might be wrong because I can't see the tire close up. Is the tire on the wrong direction? It looks like ithe treads will pull the water to the center of the tire instead of pushing away. Great job. Love your videos.

Thanks Kirk for all the videos. The KLT is a complicated machine and your vids really help take alot of the fear factor out of it. Much Obliged Tony

Appreciate your videos, Kirk, excellent tutorials for those who haven't done specific tasks for the maintenance. Question, did I see some small aux lights underneath the fairing? Nice location if that's the case.

Check your steering Damper when you have the tire off. This is a good time to inspect the front area. Also Clean any bugs from the radiators. I found that I if I twist the caliper a bit that they open up and they come off.

Hi, first of all, I just wanted to say, great job and awesome videos! Thank you! I'm a fan of you and your channel and I want send greetings from Vienna/Austria!!! Short question... Do you have also a video of rear wheel removal?
@raybrensike429 жыл бұрын
So do all front tires wear wavy? Is it improper tire pressure, wheel balance, or what? Mine always have.
@kirksmotorrad9 жыл бұрын
Ray Brensike Most tires do wear like that. It has a lot to do with the weight on the front when going into curves. People who brake in the turns really see it bad. I have taught myself to do my braking before the turns and accel out of them. Makes a big difference on tire wear! If you think about what the tire is doing when you are in a curve, the down force is trying to slip sideways and is skipping over the rain grooves causing wear on the other side of the groove. Make sense? The left side wears harder due to us driving on the right side of the road. Left turns are much longer than right ones.

I notice you just lifted the bike with a regular car type shop jack. I can spend the same amount on a flat, non-rolling scissors lift, or a jack like you use. I want to do all my own work as much as possible. Have same year and model as your show here. What lift would you recommend I buy? Scissor or shop?
@kirksmotorrad8 жыл бұрын
I am not sure which type of scissor lift you are refering to. I would at least have a floor or bottle jack to place under the oil sump to lift the front tire.

This question is not related to this video, I own a 1200LT 2002, being new to this family, what does it mean when on the Hud, the Break light and the hazardous lights are flashing back and forth?
@14wntr8 жыл бұрын
It means there is something wrong with the abs circuit. Check the brake fluid levels first.
@parkland45304 жыл бұрын
Concerning the brake fluid backing up in the reservoirs, does it back up in the handle bar and the seat reservoir? Do you have to clean the caliper pistons when changing the brake pads? Thanks
@kirksmotorrad4 жыл бұрын
The calipers do not get too dirty but if they are I use some air blast or brake cleaner
@parkland45304 жыл бұрын
illinoisBMWriders could you answer a question for me? When working on the wheel I noticed the right bearing appeared to be loose. It wouldn’t fall out but was not tightly seated. I was watching your video on bearing removal and that didn’t appear to be the case. Is this normal? Thanks.
@14wntr4 жыл бұрын
@@parkland4530 That is not normal. It should be tight in there
@parkland45304 жыл бұрын
@@14wntr Thanks for the comment. It didnt look right. I dont know what has happened or when. There is a Chinese bearing in there. I dropped it off at the local machinist /HD guy. I dont know what can be done. Dont know how many miles I have driven with it like that or what would happen if I left it as is? I dont really notice any unusual vibration.

I could not get the brake calipers out of the way; had to remove the rotors.
@johndrew93825 ай бұрын
I had replaced the brake lines with Spengler stainless steel braided that are stiff and had little flexibility to move the calipers out of the way. K1200LT 2002.

TIL: The brake rotors have to be removed to get the calipers off on the K1200RS. Otherwise, your video was pretty close to my experience (the front fender has different mounting points).
