Just replaced my cowbell BMW rotor today with an EBC MD615 and new EBC pads by following the instructions in this video. Worked out perfectly. Thank you for a great piece of instruction.

@@4ageboy The replacement part of the job went very well. Unfortunately after I finished and got it back on the ground the rear suspension settled a little bit and the bike fell over and got a scratch. I always check the balance before walking away but I didn’t realize how much it would settle after a few minutes. Live and learn.

Great video. I was lucky that all the screws came out with heat. phew. No drilling. Ordered the new rotor as per your recommendation. Good price from US to Australia. Keep up the good work guys. Great videos

Great video. I'm trying the silicon around the rivets first. the k1200LT manual for screw torques lists where loctite is supposed to be used. it is listed for the screws holding the sensor ring on but NOT for the screws which hold the brake disc to rear wheel drive. My screws holding the disc on came out with no heat.

The sensor does not get removed so is self aligning when you put everything back together.

Is it just an illusion or is there a tear in your boot between the FD and swing arm? It looks funny as you are installing the new rotor. What brake pads did you use? I just replaced my worn out original rotor and was planning to use pads bought from BBY. After reading the EBC cautions against sintered pads, I checked the BBY Carbone Lorraine pads and they are sintered. BBY says they are OK, but I am not risking it. Still waiting for my EBC "V" pads to arrive. As an aside, all three of my retainer screws came out undamaged, but my ABS ring took a lot more work then yours.

A temporary fix I used is quick-setting epoxy. Inject a little into each rivet location using a needle-style nozzle and allow time to dry overnight. Your ears will thank you.

Thank you so much for the video. My problem is the MD-615 is getting to warm to touch. Is this normal. BMW tech says it has to be floating in order to press the pads apart. I don't even use the back brakes and in 10 miles to hot to touch. Any suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated. I have a R1200CL and replaced the Back rotor with this MD-615. I also flushed the ABS and rear cylinder.

I think if they touch a little it is normal. If you are not getting an error code, keep riding. You may have integrated brakes as well. If so the rear is applied every time you use the fronts

I got the damn cowbell noise that is driving me crazy, My brake pads are like New, want to wait until brakes are wore out before replacing the brake rotor, have you ever heard of the rotor coming apart and causing an issue? Mine seems to be getting worse, looks like they are just rivets. Not sure if I can give it a fix to quite it down or not.

Hi. I am new to BMW K1200LT. Like 3 days old new. I have always ridden Yamaha Venture Royal bikes. However I purchased a 2006 BMW 1200LT and my fuel gauge wont show over 3/4 tank. not even sure it moves? I saw your video on char/can fix but my question is if my tank collapsed can it be put back or do I have to replace it? Thanks. Ron.
@kirksmotorrad
@kirksmotorrad 8 жыл бұрын
It can be easily repaired to work again. Remove the sender tube from the tank from the top and unbend the tube. You will have to take it apart but once you do you will see how to fix it by sending a socket or something of similar size through the tube. I will be posting a DIY video soon on it.

Ron Williams your straightforward, clear explanations are the best! If you redo this video, you might note that the rotor warranty is void unless you use EBC's brake pads. I just learned of this when I opened my rotor box today. Thanks again...

hello from denmark i have a minor problem with my rear brake pad i can move it maybe a millimeter in the side and i take with my fingers and teen i can move it What can i do ?
@kirksmotorrad
@kirksmotorrad Жыл бұрын
Try to pry the caliper pistons back and then pump the brake to help loosen the pistons. If it is the rotor that is moving, you should change it.

Can someone verify the correct rotor. I viewed the ones on Amazon in the USA and Canada for the EBC MD615 but Amazon says this is not a fit for a 2007 K1200LT despite some of the product reviews mentioning the LT. So is Amazon wrong and so losing business or what. They also show another rotor under the same product number but no centre hub. Pricing is the lowest at $204 Canadian, if I buy from other sources in the States the price jumps to $350 Canadian with exchange rate and shipping and duties. Hoping for some input here. Thanks and God bless you all. Extra question, which are the correct brake pads for these new rotors some aren't compatible with the steel thanks.

The floating disk makes a rattling noise, that some people likens to a cowbell. Some "cling, clung" noise. It's harmless buy very annoying and embarrassing.
