Interesting video. I really enjoyed it, and I have never even ridden a BMW. There are no shims in there then, just the buckets of different sizes?

the buckets are shims of sorts

I have a question. why not just rotate the engine until your exhaust valve lobes on the cam are 180° of the valves and just check your Clarence that way and skip everything else?

You can do that for a check. If you have to adjust them, it is more involved.

Hi! I bought a k1200lt in November with 60k on the clock, and no idea if the valves have ever been done. When is the recommended mileage to check them? I know you said your has 40k, so is that the recommended mileage?

The book says every 12k on a valve check. You should check them for sure if you dont have records.

I still have not encountered any guide rails that are worn enough to change out. If you are trying to change the tensioner that is done by removing the front cover. It is a PITA for certain. I will have a video out soon of a full disassembly.

If you have a K1200 4V, leave your valves alone. Word is they get lose with time, not tight. Lose is good. Tight is not. The 2V bricks get tight with time and need this done. The 4V do not and never need them done. Here is the video link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHfOgaGCi9CrjbM&ab_channel=ChrisHarris
