Thank you sharing, your content is always helpful. I wanted to give a small pointer on this light module when reading it with programmer on bench like you did. You can actually use the ground pin on the modules connector where the vehicle harness plugs into. Makes that connection a lot easier.

Once on 550 e60 2008 I bought, light module was bad. I replaced the module and coded it to the car. I did not chage VIN and I don't believe mileage is contained on e60 (?) Either way it worked well with no problems. The e39 definitely needs mileage adjustment to match but I think vin is not absolutely necessary. Best regards, those are some thin wires!
