Causes in time everything becomes same same as phones most companies make same phones change a design a bit it’s same with cars everything is same and you can’t blame the companies because all of them succeeded so all of them making good cars and there is no more room for anything special they ran out of designs what do you want them to do ? Sell people cars looking like the 1980 nobody would buy it people want modern cars generations change kids born in 2000s want new cars even people born in the 90s want new cars I’m born in 1983 and I like new cars these cars are for people who were born in the 60s or 50s now some new generation still appreciate these cars but that’s very small % most would say this is junk and to be honest I’m one of them I won’t lie

I recently bought a Lancia Delta Evo Integrale Martini as a weekend car. Such an amazing car to drive. It has very little power steering, no electronics, no ABS, a real drivers car. It's making approx 245/250 hp too, which from an Italian hatchback designed in the 70's can be pretty hairy. You can't beat cars from yesteryear. Real drivers cars. Every drive is an occasion, a real experience

I spent a few months at a tuning shop in Germany where the owner of the company had an M1 Pro car which he had raced back in the 80's (incl. in the 24h Le Mans). It's nothing like any other BMW and with the big wing and massive fender flares it's just such a cool car.

Throwing in my vote for more classic car videos, not you owning one necessarily but if you've got access to some that they'll let you borrow for the day like this then I think it'll be great content. This was entertaining, informative and your usual standard of well made, well edited, well shot videos. That's your ballpark really and that's why I subbed a while back, you don't brag or show off your wealth or your access to this stuff you're just all about the cars themselves. I respect and emphasize with that and that's why I watch.

When I glanced at the "thumbnail" picture of this video I presumed it was a Lotus Esprit (the one featured in the James Bond film, "The Spy Who Loved Me"). Incidentally, thanks James, for showing the headlights popping-up. Most of the other supercar reviewers seem to omit that very interesting feature in their videos. My first two vehicles both featured pop-up headlights (Toyotas). Unfortunately, government regulations have banned them altogether (even though it was possible to manually raise the lights if need be).
@johnburns24858 жыл бұрын
Some other BMWs also had two rear roundels. If you bought an E23 7 series with the rubber boot spoiler there was no space for a roundel, so cars often had one either side of the number plate. I've seen this often enough to think it's a factory feature.

Such a great history lesson! Thanks. I had no real idea about this car.
@richardparkinson95568 жыл бұрын
The fuel caps are behind the rear quarter lights because that car has been federalised for use in the USA. There are two fuel tanks and two fillers, but they are under the windows not behind them. You can see where the front bumper has been cut and the rear indicators added to the sides of the rear bumper.

Great video, I enjoyed hearing about the history of a unique classic car. You and Sam are killing it on the video content! On the classic car front, what I like about them is how low a lot of the production numbers are. That and they don't depreciate the moment you drive them off the lot!

only you can answer your question James. personally I don't think your driving ability(very good) and your obvious love of chasing the red line doesn't add up to owning a £££ classic. however I think we can all agree on how well you did driving a precious left hand drive,dog leg boxed super can and give commentary on normal roads. i salute you sir.

Yes, you definitely should! The M1 is beautiful and you should also review the 2.7 RS 911, around the same price for the touring models.

In the US early 80's, the M1 was about $115K, while the 512BB was around $100K. The M1 engine was 3.5, not 3.0 and after the M1 it found its way first into the 6-series, then it went to the M5. $115K is $300K in today's money. During late 80's and early 90's, M1's could be bought at very reasonable prices in West Germany.

James, my two cents.....don't do it. A very expensive classic car like this BMW might satisfy an immediate craving, but considering the cars that you drive, I think you'd get bored with it very fast. your channel is great because you're into showing us state of the art cars. My vote is....don't do it. (Mike in Ohio)

P.S keep up the great work really enjoying your videos and content.

Absolutely superb James! The BMW M1 has always been one of my favourite cars, quite why a company like BMW never followed it up has been a mystery to me, especially in this day and age and with other manufacturers showing just how good mid engined sports cars can be! Obviously you mentioned the i8 but that's more of a design study (and a bloody good one!), than an out and out sports car, it'd be great to see BMW going for it again. Well done for capturing what this incredible car is all about and the history behind it, it still looks as jaw dropping today as it did when it was first unveiled, beautifully elegant with just enough menace to show off that it means business and with the legendary M88/1 straight six engine it was such a masterpiece in engineering, design and performance! - Sorry to gush but I'm just such a fan of this awesome car!😜. This is by far one of the best videos you've done and to see your delight as you drove it goes to prove just how special the M1 is and then to cap it all you're going to be doing a piece about Don Law Racing - I literally cannot wait for that as again they're a legendary company and set up! Thanks so much for this bud, your content goes from strength to strength and it's such a pleasure to see - as always - Top Work Fella!👍👍
