BMW M1 Turbo mit Hans Wagner auf der GP Strcke des Nürburgrings im Programm des Oldtimer Grand Prix.
Bei Schnitzer entstanden damals drei Exemplare des M1 Turbo, der bekannte Reihensechszylinder des Procar wurde mit zwei Turboladern zwangsbeatmet. Die Ladeluftkühler befinden sich in den Seitenkästen vor den Hinterrädern.
In der ersten Version des M1 Turbo arbeitete noch das ZF-Getriebe aus der Procar Serie, daß den Kräften des Motors jedoch nicht gewachsen war. Später kam ein Hewland 5 Gang Getriebe zum Einsatz, das war zwar ziemlich hakelig aber es hielt. Auch in diesem M1 im Video ist das Hewland Getriebe verbaut.
Am Anfang der siebten Runde kurz vor der Ford-Kurve gibt die Krümmerdichtung auf, die akustischen veränderungen sind gut zu hören. Interessant auch daß das typische Kreischen des Sechszylinders fehlt, Turbolader und Schalldämpfer (grusel) sei Dank.

i have never in my life heard anything like this. it is absolutely insane how that sounds, craziest turbo noise i have ever heard hands down

I wonder if there are some later videos of this Hans's rocker, as it reached 847 Hp and 950 Nm , .... that must be insane fast , at that low weight ....

Looks like a real handful certainly in the wet, but once that turbo kicks in and the tires hook up....well, nothing like it. Amazing and good driving.

That was superb! I don't know what the blue banner in German said in the top right corner just before the end though. Amazing to see how much grip the car didn't have at the start with cold tyres and how much that turbo can spin up the rears in 2nd and 3rd. And when he reeled in and past that cheeky De Tomaso Pantera who passed him at the start I cheered! Great stuff. Just a shame he could quite grab 1st from the Porsche although at one point I thought he had him...

this is a dp-Porsche 935. some 911 were modified with the dp (company name: design plastic) bodykit and the engines were changed to single -or biturbo. dp also created the bodykit for the Kremer Porsche 935-K2 and K3.

@ScarfaceHood Da sind 30 Jahre Entwicklung zwischendrin, ein Gr.5 Wagen mit brachialer Beschleunigung und Stahlscheibenbremsen, mechanischer Einspritzung etc. war extrem schwierig zu beherschen, ..und trozdem gleichschnell wie ein moderner Supersportler von Porsche mit aktueller Fahrwerks -Motor -Getriebe und Bremstechnik...

wow looks like a nightmare to control. Lots of lag, all that boost at the top end. Glad my 335i came with 2 smaller near lagless turbos.

I guess you mean the Blow Off valve ? All the wastegate does is to bypass exhaust past the turbine housing when desired boost is reached, so it doesnt overboost. BOV releases excess boost pressure, tho I _think_ he is without BOV so this is actually compressor surge :)

Sometimes it seems like the fuel is being cut very momentarilly or the blowoff valve is just openning up for no reason. Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong? example: 5:50

it is hard to see for me, but I think he is hitting the rev limiter. its okay to do this in a turbo car to maintain high boost levels through a powershift, people even do this in their turbo hondas. i think that is what we are hearing

Yes they did. The M1 Turbos were less reliable though.

That porsche got a crazy camber on the rear tires! omg i would love to drive those cars... Specially groupe C cars but everyone can't. I hope my dream would become true T_T anyway i'm going to drive a Mazda 787B with clutch on gt5 sadly lol

Die Porsche 935 waren je nach Ausbaustufe mit 635 (935-I) bis 850PS (Moby-Dick, Kremer K4) angegeben. Vom BMW M1 Schitzer Turbo sagt man, er hätte im Training über 1000PS mobilisieren können und im Renntrimm noch immer gute 850PS gehabt

tolle fahrt.irgendwie ist er die ersten zwei runden den m1 nur warmgefahren.hätte gerne geshen was noch passiert wäre wenn die dichtung gehalten hätte.

also was den le mans porsche 917 angeht(steve mc queen film etc).der hat doch den rekord über 30 jahre gehalten !!! erodünamik hin oder her. das heck hob sich auf der geraden etwas,der fahrer konnte den himmel im spiegel sehen,da hat man einfach den flügel ein bisschen abgeschnitten und los gings.das war anfang der 70iger soviel ich weiss.

Oh REALY,! So where was your de tomato after lap 3 then,? Yet again Americans Can't build a decent car they have to come to Western Europe to buy something half tidy, and not to mention Two Western European cars with there own engines in them blitz a poxy Over sized V8, when. 5+ litre CANT outrun cars with half the sized motor in them then it's got to tell you something, yank V8s are Crap...... B.M.W. M Tec.... Because life's to short to drive shit

In what motor sports outside of America was that then, because if your talking about Western Europe they were like the rest of American crap one big joke, even there G.T.40s where in the early days (a British sport car ) and the Cobra yet another British sport car was driven to victory by British born Ken Miles and New Zealander and British World Champion race car drivers, they have been 30 years behind the rest of the world for ages, lotus engineers had to over see the building and production of one of the corvette motors, they maybe alright in the states, but there's a whole wide world outside of the states read to take them on and show them how to build Cars and motors

Das ist mir auch klar. Ich rede allein davon, dass man in den Siebzigern zwar schon deutliche Fortschritte in Sachen Abtrieb und Luftwiderstand gemacht hat, aber eben noch nicht auf einem höheren Niveau....

Very nice car! There is a real M1 revival going on this year! These 2 M1 Turbo's have got back on track, and we did the same with the BMW March M1 for the first time in 28 years! (the car for what this engine was actually meant, but never happend) Look at my channel for vids!

Geiler Klang, auch wenn er den Wagen nicht gaaanz ans Limit gebracht hat...bei 9:33 gibts zudem 'nen netten Gruß ans Getriebe...gibts nix...aber im Vergleich zum Gruppe B S1 Quattro fast schon lahm. Aber: Automobilgeschichte! Da führt kein Weg dran vorbei!

Schon beeindruckend was die Gruppe 5 Autos für einen Vortrieb hatten. Obwohl man in den Siebzigern ja einen großen Fortschritt in Sachen Aerodynamik gesehen hat, waren diese Autos auf den Rundstrecken der Welt nicht schneller als ein Cup Porsche von heute.

Du redest hier aber von Le Mans, da brauchte man auch so wenig Abtrieb wie möglich um hohe Endgeschwindigkeiten zu erreichen. Das ist klar, dass die Auto da schwer beherrschbar sind und abheben wollen. Ich meine aber Strecken wie die Nordschleife, auf der man eben viel Abtrieb braucht, den man zu der Zeit aber eben noch nicht so wirklich hatte.... Außerdem stammt deine Rechtschreibung wohl offensichtlich aus dem Kindergarten.
