BMW M135i Engine Removal - 2012 N55 Engine Seized Project - F20/F21

First job on the seized engine M135i is remove the engine. I actually managed all this with quite a small tool kit, the only tools you may not have are T55 Torx and E "star" sockets. Obviously you'll need an engine hoist and a strap or rope to wrap around the engine.

Was curious if you know how difficult a manual swap on a f21 135i like yours would be. I used to own a manual but i had a rolled over, now I want to buy an automatic and install the manual transmission from the wrecked car on it. (Reason be only 2 manual cars were delivered to Mexico, plenty of automatics)

I don’t know from experience but physically it wouldn’t be difficult, just need the gearbox and selector from a manual. I don’t know what’s required with the ECU though whether the original ECU can be used and reprogrammed or if you need a Manual ECU.

At 9:00 what size wrench are you using to hold the back side bolt ?

I can’t remember exactly, something between 15 and 18mm I think.
