BMW M140I Full review / First impressions (Drive, exhaust sounds etc )

Yes this M140i does not have OPF/PPF/GPF. They started fitting that starting 06/2018. You can also see that by the closed air intake on the right side op the front bumper. Only PPF models have a second cooler behind that grill

Your car is mapped - sports dials should be 400hp 560nm. Only after xHP gbox re-map do they update to 480hp and 640nm. Easy way the check - if your Gear indicator reads 'D' then it's not xHP mapped, if it reads D1, D2, D3 etc then it's mapped.

Good luck with the car. Mine is stock with an LSD and winter tyres at the mo. Looking forward to some slow motion drifting in the snow this winter... Have a look into winter tyres if you can - these cars are dangerous if you don’t respect them in the wet/cold!

When you are in comfort mode does the dash show 'D' or 'D1, D2' etc? If just 'D'. Not mapped. If 'D' with gear number. Mapped.

Wrong!!! That just means the gearbox is mapped not the engine! Mine has stage 1 remap and Xhp stage 2 gearbox map and it's the xhp that shows the gear not the map!

Good choice getting a pre OPF one, I did the same thing. A remap is a must, instant 410-420 bhp, and if you can stretch to a 200 cell high flow cat, you should see 450+ bhp (mine is 455bhp/634nm with these mods). Please don't ruin it by sticking loads of fake carbon shit all over it, keep it standard, enjoy driving it, and in the near future the prices of standard looking models of these are going to rocket. You cannot buy a rear wheel drive hatchback with a big engine any longer, and there will never be another car like it.

Just a heads up, sports+ is traction half off and does actually still cut power quite a bit but the annoying thing about these is once you actually turn traction control fully off, the throttle stays in comfort and there is no way around this

No it's not, if it would cut power you wouldn't know hp figures on a dyno.

@@amaan96 dyno modes are sport+ traction control and dsc off. I have numbers from sport+ so it doesn't cut power otherwise I wouldn't know hp and nm numbers in that specific mode.

Hold the TC button down for 3 seconds and it turns everything off (ok not quite 'everything' but almost everything). This is the best mode, you get the faster gearbox, firmer suspension (adaptive), firmer steering, exhaust valve open, yet throttle is still comfort which is the best setting. In sport+ the throttle is like an on/off switch, it's shit. Even stock it's stupid, but when you start tuning it, you will be sideways constantly unless you can modulate the throttle a bit.
