Without a doubt, the E90 M3 CRT, E46 M3 CSL, E36 M3 Evolution and E30 M3 are the MUST HAVES to make an EPIC car collection. I am worried about the next generation F80 M3/F82 M4's turbocharger engine. I'm sure ///M will bang on about how much torque it has and less fuel it'll use over the E9x models but I SWEAR TO GOD, IT WILL NEVER SOUND ANYWHERE AWESOME LIKE THE 8000+RPM naturally aspirated engines ///M engines were usually renowned for. I know that this is not the first time we see a lower revving turbo engine in a sporty Bimmer - the E82 1M coupe and 2002 turbo were fantastic cars. But in my opinion, I rate a predictable power-delivery and engine sound over torque and fuel consumption. I guess we'll have to see until the F80 M3 receives similar upgrades to the CRT and CSL.

I actually think the DCT is better. Because the purpose of this car is to show the future of BMW, how performant a BMW can be, to show people what future is made of. For that reason a manual gearbox would make no sense.

Original E30 M3 will always be the best, ALWAYS. Might even feel more agile? Know so! And requires a driver. The line has been crossed for all mass produced cars, this one included.

We sure that the other car they came across was actually a CRT? Looked like a modified standard 3 series saloon to me. Light clusters wrong, wheels awful (why would you change those?). Doesn't look quite right.

IRD By law in germany the manufacturier has to provision a winter tire solution for every type of car they sell. That Fugly wheel was what BMW offered as a winter wheel for GTS/CRT. Even their own GTS testhack ran on set of those uglies all winter. I guess it was the first thing they found to clear the big brakes, although other solutions have been created by the aftermarket in the mean time. Back then there was no readily available 18” wheel that cleared the brakes, until Apex started making them.

Yes I did some research, and found that the sedan chassis is possibly more rigid. Don't know if that was a credible source though. Interesting still.

I agree with Juan: Catchpole says he likes it despite it not having a manual. If you look at 1:53 you can see the DCT lever and paddles, and later in the video he mentions the DCT and the short gearing. Cracking car, and super video!

Surprised EVO publishes this video--boring and hard to understand the presenter's hushed fast mumbling. He talks with his mouth closed with cotton in it. And the driving footage from inside the cabin is extremely boring. Subject matter is interesting, however. So one must suffer through this.
