The results were expected to be honest. The BMW has more horsepower and torque but Porsche's launch control seems to be the best in the business. You can tune this entry level 911to 470HP, imagine that! Would also be interested to see which is quicker on a racetrack. I am guessing the 911 because of the extra weight the M3 is carrying.

This video shows that the Porsche 911 is still what it has always been, a fantastic sports/super car that every generation was a measurement or bar for other cars of it's class to try to prove themselves to match or surpass it. Or to put it simply , if a car you had from the same gen as the Porsche could beat it, then you had one of the best sports cars on the planet.

It has been proven in the past with dyno tests that BMW does underrate their cars as well. That M3 puts out around 30 - 40 BHP more than the official numbers say iirc. Just seems like something a lot of manufacturers do these days. Though, Porsche and BMW seem to be the ones that do it the most (judging from the drag race results the last couple of years). In the end, I don't really care that much tbh. Most of these cars are plenty fast enough in a real life scenario.

Both are perfect sportscars. Particularly - because of the rear located engine, the 911 has a perfect traction and therefore a perfect launch start. The M3 has the clear better and stronger engine which is also used in the race-car GT3 and the M3 is more a daily sportscar. The 911 has smaller brakes in the back a stronger 4 Piston Break compared to the m3 which has a two Piston Break in the back and overall +200kg. The differences of the Breaking distance Challenge between 911 and m3 is very small why I would say that the M3 has definitively a Better Brakes Concept than Porsche. In SUM...both are good

@@ServusLuis very simple! Considering the huge weight and the break differences, the 911 should stand after 20m :-) what it does not do! M3: ~1700kg 911: ~1500kg In the Front: 911: 6-Piston Breaks M3: 6-Piston Breaks In the back: 911: 4-Pistons M3: 2-Piston Veey simple. The differences in the "Break Challenge" are minor! Good work BMW ;-)

@@yarrr9457 dude you put down some dumb car stats which don’t say anything, it’s not about braking one time, it’s about continuous braking. You obviously don’t know anything about physics. The main factor in braking to a standstill are the tires, not the brakes. Also weight doesn’t always mean that a car brakes better or worse to a standstill. My Cayenne Turbo f.e. brakes faster to a standstill than both of them but it’s about braking over and over again. Also the brakes on the 911 were the Base, M3 not. Also the difference can’t be justified as minor, because it can determine if you make an accident or you stop in time. Just get along with it…

It's not really shocking..rear wheel drive but the engine sits basically right above the rear axle. So being rear wheel drive isn't a disadvantage. Engine weight actually plants the wheels down giving it grip.

The cute little thing you can do with the base 911 Carrera though is you can go from 379bhp to 460-480hp with only a stage 1 tune, depending on what tuner you go to . (540hp from celtic tuning, but they're not exactly known for reliability, often sacrificing most of the reliability for some extra gains)

Porsche is rear-engined. You are not going to beat that car off the line. Simple physics. The BMW is a family sedan and is obviously not light and so has disadvantages across the board. A better comparison is the Porsche Panamera sedan but you don't see many on the road these days.

This is one the 911 always wins, because it's got huge grip on that rear end. But this time, the M3 got close... and, even with more drag, it has the better top end due to the engine. Rolling start, no rear-engined superpower, so the M3 dominates the 911, despite a severe weight disadvantage! Acceleration, braking, this is the closest the M3 has got to the 911 in years. BMW deserves MAJOR props for that, because the 992 is simply insane. A kick in the nuts for those who keep pronouncing BMW's death.

All these VW group cars from the Polo GTI to the Bugatti Chiron makes a lot more HP than what they say it is. Especially when you use premium fuel. Maybe the listed HP is the lowest possible power when you use the worst fuel ever, at the end of service interval, at 50C ambieny temperature.
