I had the same decision. I ended up with s5… I had a BMW 335i with m-sport back in the day. It was amazing to drive but it had so many problems… and I replaced 6 run flats because of nails and bubbles. I still have PTSD from it. But the m340i is a beast and it appears to be reliable unlike my 335i with n54 engine.

B58, S55, s58 and s63 are all bullet proof engines basically the m340i and all the m-lites include b58 engine

Engine is bulletproof, but the problems with run-flats still exist in this m340i, you will have PTSD relapse. This is why everyone goes for Pilot Sport 4S in m340i. I was in-divide between m340i and RS5, but to keep my life stress free, I will go with latter.

I drive Audi S5, and honestly, It pushes well and smooth. There is barely any noise in the cabin even at 200-250 kmph. Have driven it extensively. No complains whatsoever. And it has better space in the back than in the 340i. Have a friend who owns a 340i and isn’t very happy with it. But the S5 is versatile as it is.

Sorry to say this, but it doesn't matter even if you get 1000hp out of that 3 series since it looks like a normal entry level luxury car. A layman would even pass it off as a Honda city. If bmw has priced it at 72L despite it being a ckd, don't you think they have overpriced it? Especially since the s5 being a cbu costs the same. Looks like the m340i is a rip off in that aspect.

Nah man . Bmw carries some aura . I was walking at my street and saw a blue bmw 2 series . And it caught my attention even when I wasn't looking at the road . And I am not a guy that justifies every car based on its price . It is real beauty . I haven't seen a m340i in real life but a normal old 3 or 5 series catches my attention ( even my mother's who is a layman in terms of cars ) . And no debate that the audi s5 looks more premium than the bmw . But that doesn't make the bmw any less beautiful.

The m340i in touring looks absolutely stunning. Audis A5 looks good in RS form but the S5 doesnt look as good. Audi alsoo lacks in the Technology deparment, stuff like wireless auto and carplay with option to put the map onto the drivers display plus the better headsup display make a big difference. BMW makes more power too, so for what its intended for, which is not going around a racetrack but just having good power to get off the line and overtake its better than the s5. The BMW also comes in very practical and imo more stylish touring form. Im surprised you think the BMW is the overpriced one here. I think the Audi is. Its old and the price hasnt dropped enough. And the new S5 is an ABSOLUTE disgrace. Cheap looking and cheap feeling. Tho ig it rly isnt the same car anymore, a shame, since the old S5 looked and felt rly solid especially for its time. Sadly imo both brands going wrong rn. x3 looks absolutely horid both inside and out and it also feels awful on the inside. Same for the new A5 and A6. The new 5 series too. Tbh if it was me id just get a last gen m550i or a 2023 m340i or an 2023 RS5 or RS4.

The S5 has some annoying issues too. No TPMS sensors so you cant see tire PSI and you have to be on the sport screen to see which tire is low. That is an important feature to me. The S5 has the most awkward cup holder location too.

I have an S5! I test drove the m340i, the m340i is feature packed but when I parked it, i didn’t bother looking back. That was the deal breaker for me. I look back at the S5 every single time :)

I would choose Audi S5 or RS5 over BMW 340 any day just because of of the creepiest interior in a sports car, I have ever seen. I just don’t like BMW‘s new curve display design in all of their new models. I simply hate instrument clusters layout, specially speedometer and odometer layout and then there is the touch control in a sports car, I mean, who demands these stupid things in a sports car. you should give an option for a touch controls alongside the physical controls free of cost
