Highly recommend the is flash to anyone with a f80 Bmw and Alex at alpine is the way to go. It cost me around $700 with current discounts he is running.

Fred Mayes Thor isn’t coding, it’s a tune. Coding is for changing built in bmw features and can be done by anyone.Tuning cannot be done without a dme unlock, which you won’t be able to do yourself. Standard tunes that unlock the dme are $600+

Does the GTS flash add the burbles in the exhaust too? Or was that already on the car to begin with?

They weren’t as aggressive on the car originally. I added the more aggressive burbles with the flash

All the stuff you got coded aside from the GTS EPS, DCT, GHAS (Diff) and CS EDC can be done for free or a token sum from most workshops if you are a regular. The other stuff is usually no more than $250 for GTS EPS, DCT, GHAS (LSD) and CS EDC (GTS has coilovers so no EDC). You paid $700???

Haha thank you for rephrasing you’re comment. At the time I was new to tuning and M prices in general. Alex is trusted in the community and has great customer service so I would still recommend him. If I knew then what I know now it would of cost me a lot less, never the less I am still happy and would recommend anyone with a M4 get this done. Thank you for pointing out that it can be done cheaper though!

Is it safe to flash M4 GTS running 91 octane and bone stock everything on M3?

I flashed everything besides the engine. I would recommend a 91oct tune for the engine and having other parts flashes gts.

Completely stock exhaust with the valves open. I had Alex@Alpine do the full gts flash. I’m sure you could get the same results with bootmod3.

I didn’t do anything with the engine. The GTS has water injection so you can’t do anything power wise. Everything else is absolutely worth it and improves the driving experience of the car.

No I have not. I’m was thinking about getting a one piece crank hub installed but the install is as much as the repair for when it does spin. I’m working on a video updating what I’ve done to the car and what I plan to do on the channel with it.

@@slavmotorsports2797 crank hub is roughly 3-4k installed including the part. A blown motor will cost you 18-25k motor installed.

@@hellohunter8583 spun crank hub actually usually doesn't caused much if any type of engine damage, just needs retiming (and obviously the cost of fixing the hub so it doesnt happen again). Crankhub upgrade is worth doing if you're out of warranty or running any tune that's over 500hp for sure

That’s what my research has lead to so I’m on bootmod3 stage 2(video coming soon😉) so if it happens(knock on wood) I’ll get a fix but for now I’m careful not to use the kickdown feature. Sounds like the issue is overblown for us stock turbo people.

I know I could have. But I went with Alex because he is trusted by the community and has helped out with many other things. I do not regret paying what I paid for everything he has done. Could not recommend Alex at Alpine any more.

There is a tune included. I just went with one of his lower tunes. He has some that will out perform JB4 if you have downpipes.
