BMW M4 Safety Car - LOUD revs & short acceleration!

Yesterday I filmed this magnificient BMW M4 Safety Car during a DTM presentation in Cologne. The loud sound absolutely surprised me when it first revved (As you can see by the shaking video at that point :D)

This car is also louder because it's got the 93 mm carbon fiber exhaust tips in comparison to the 83 mm titanium

TONY C No, it's not the tips lol. I was trollin, my guess is the car has had a lot of mileage put on it so the exhaust is broken in. A lot of people say after 10k miles you can really hear the difference.

+Justin Shih Well, what i know, the safety cars of BMW for the DTM and MotoGP are straight-piped. So there's no (or if, a racing catalysator) catalysators and mufflers. Pure engine sound so to say. The result is ridiculous loud exhaust sounds, as this little brat demonstrates :D

Does anyone know the exact setup of this exhaust system. I am aware that it has the m performance exhaust , but does it have aftermarket downpipe or test pipe ? I think this sounds by far the best compared to a lot of others I've heard..

+cgeetaryan as what i know, the safety cars for the DTM and MotoGP are straight piped. So theres no muffler in there, which causes it to be such loud brat. also, the exhaust pipes are titanium pipes, with carbon fibre tips (in MotoGP)

+cgeetaryan It´s the M Performance Exhaust, but the valves are open when it starts the engine. Normally the valves are closed when you cold-start the car. But you can easily unplugg them. Just search for "MPE Valves open Cold start" and you will find some cars which sound exactly the same! :)

+cgeetaryan when we picked up our m4 at BMW Welt we had the opportunity to ask questions about the m4 safety car which is in the exposition there. it was told all parts which are applied are the M Performance also the exhaust. which is not just the slip on like Akrapovic. the MPE also replace the mid muffler. On top this safety car has no set up for effeccient etc ride. it start always with valve open. the stock M4 close the valve always at ca. 4000rpm no matter in which set up you are sport or +. just to stay under noise restrictions and to avoid side noise in cabine .
