Three years ago I replied to your link. Two weeks ago I finally found a lovely well cared for 9000 Aero, 5-speed manual in superb order. I'm only the 2nd owner, the last had it for 21 years. It's like driving a new car.

ive owned a few, will never have anything else! 2 of them tuned, first one, a 2.0, i chased a golf R at 140 mph on the highway with, 4 passengers deep and luggage covering the back window. a total sleeper with OEM wheels etc. Will never forget the 2 dudes faces as we passed them climbing past 150 mph. My current, also a 2.0, one sadly blew the gasket last year but its coming back stronger, only a stage 3 at this point but bloody fast for only being that honestly.

WOW a Saab I've always wanted! A true wolf in sheeps clothing re the 9000 manual Aero. A sedan 'supercar' for pedestrian money, only true enthusiasts know what they are getting. Greetings from Australia.

Im so excited for the 9000 aero Im getting second hand from my dad, truely a drivers car that no-one knows about and exactly like the one in this video (except with the super aero alloy wheels). its hard to convince my friends about its performance when all they see is a shabby exterior. can't wait to get my licence and show them why SAAB has such a cult like following.

I had a 1991 2.3T 9000 that had a SaabFlight re-map. One of the best days out I’ve ever had. My current 9-5 2.3t is with them to turn it into an Aero plus a bit
@kuntibolox4 жыл бұрын
You're turning a low pressure 2.3 into an HOT Aero "plus a bit"? That's gonna be expensive. Finding a donor 2.3T engine would be cheaper.
@nuttycommuter37184 жыл бұрын
@@kuntibolox Engine’s the same and my 9-5 has less than 40,000 miles (60,000km) on the clock. Remap has been done so at ~230bhp now. New intercooler and I’ve sourced good TD04 and pipes. Should be able to get to ~275bhp for less than £2,000 from starting at 185bhp
@kuntibolox4 жыл бұрын
@@nuttycommuter3718 Correct, your engine is fundamentally identical to the Aero R engine, all the B235 engines are except for a few upgrades such as Sodium filled exhaust valves however it's the turbo, the ancillaries and ECU you need to bring it up to HOT Aero spec which would be cheaper taking from a donor engine, you've then got 250BHP without a remap complete with the uprated turbo. The 2.3T has a virtually Aero spec engine so would make a suitable donor, just add a 3.5 bar fuel regulator, a remap and 3" downpipe to get 300BHP all for less than £2000. Intercooler doesn't need uprating unless you're going over 300BHP and stage 3+.
@nuttycommuter37184 жыл бұрын
@@kuntibolox yeah that’s a fair point. The things you’ve mentioned I’ve got coming, the only difference is I’m paying somebody else to do it because I don’t have the skills. SaabFlight have got an Aero ready to take the parts off and fit to my car so we’re good to go 👍🏻 Even at 230bhp it’s very very lovely to drive

@@nuttycommuter3718 They're good guys at Saabflight, Dave is the owner and a qualified Solicitor in a past life. His specialty is tuning 9000's, there's nothing he doesn't know about that, Darren also likes tuned cars. I haven't been over there this year so I'll have to drop in for a look over that breaker Aero you mention and a chat (he does like to talk does Dave). When I was rebuilding my 9-5 Aero he offered me the use of his computer, online WIS and parts database whenever I wanted, that's service above and beyond the usual.

Ah, nostalgia alert! My grandfather had a manual 9000 Aero new in 1995 - special order with an electric glass sunroof. Silver with grey leather interior. Yum. I remember him taking me to a disused airfield and giving it the 'beans' down the runway - a Saab's natural habitat, of course! He kept if for 15 years, the longest he's had a new car (he retired) - unfortunately the scrappage scheme claimed it when he bought a new BMW M-Sport 😢

I have enjoyed surprising allot of drivers in their expensive German saloons. There is something deeply satisfying driving a sleeper. I Just bought a Saab 9-3 coupe aero hot as well, and it is also very entertaining. Best wishes mark

Babe! (cars name btw....). These really are such great sleepers. I run a modded 9-5, and have run with Marks's 9k and other tuned saabs at RAF Marham in the past. Great fun...apart from breaking my engine. I also have a stripped out 9000 stuck in a barn for future track days when i get some more money. Other marques who have discovered how easy these are to tune, have been doing engine swaps for years, so they are getting rarer. That kick when they come on boost is addictive ! if i may 'vid buzz', if you enjoy these cars check out mark411, mrd2525 and soulfirer vids on here and vimeo.

What was the blue thing again and what did it do? Was it like an oil thing??
@Hazzardretros5 жыл бұрын
It’s kinda like a big syringe of oil which injects extra oil into the engine when surge is detected. Once the surge event is over, the oil goes back into the syringe and is held there until it’s needed again..... (probably for the next fast corner! 😁)

9000s are fast, but it's not faster than e39 in any way. 0-100 it loses traction with terrible wheelspin. let's be honest. You can barerly make 5,5sec after couple of tries, but 6sec is rather more realistic, so it's far behind e39. keep in mind you compare e39 which is stock, to the car that is tuned. I have smile on my face each time I see other Saab's fans skew the facts :D
