BMW M52 ticking noise

Sounds like tappet noise, only starts at 85 celsius or more engine temperature, sound has becomning more louder the last 6 months, has replaced tappets(HVA) and tappetguides. Oilpressure when hot, taken in the cylinderhead is at 5000 rpm only 2,25 bar.

Hey, I have the same ticking, I already checked tensioners, chains, also removed and checked lifters and they were all ok, still have the noise, will also check oilpressure, your is definitively too low, should be around 50psi/3.4bar at 5000 rm general rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm, do you use 10w40? or lighter oil?

Who has figured out the issues it’s been 10 years now I saw one guy say it was piston damage but who knows if he’s right

Flush the motor with Transmission fluid 😅

This was piston noise caused by a damaged piston. Had to disassemble the Whole engine to find the fault.

The skirt of one piston was damaged.

If it piston damaged that cylinder must be with 0 compression is it right or no?

Ich weiss das problem war zuwenig Öl , aber mein Motor macht die selben Geräusche mit genügend Öl :P
