My car had wierd sound of air escaping from the exhaust, also lost of power. It came up that exhaust manifold was damaged.
This movie will show you how to replace this part.
Please make sure that you have ordered correct replacement part, maybe better to confirm with BMW.
Part that I have installed I have from eBay, to find it please type in search "EXHAUST MANIFOLD BMW E60 3.0d M57"
Good luck
------ UPDATE ------
I just have done same job on my friend car, and I found that replacement part was longer and doesnt match the turbo position.
I have compared it with my car and it looks like in my car metal plate under the turbo that connect turbo with engine block is missing. It is not a problem as since my work the car work well and I have no issues with it. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BEND TURBO TO MATCH CONNECTIONS ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, remember that turbo is very fragile and it is not good to bend it.
If your part will not match connections on the turbo located under manifold then I recommend to remove metal plate that connect turbo with engine block, it is two screws on the engine block side and one under the turbo.
Good luck
