The manifold cracked on my 530d E60. Did my homework and found it was a common problem so I decided to go for the cast iron manifold which I believe was fitted to the E39’s. Some say you get a slight loss of power but I didn’t notice much difference at all. Great vid 👍🏻

Thanks for your videos, I have a problem with my BMW e46 330d 2001 184ps ,in high rpms pulls like a train, but between 1000-1700 rpm I have to press accelerator pedal more than 1/2 so that car picks up speed and does not maintain it continuously .When I measure the turbo pressure at idle only reads 900-902mbar .. When my father has 1025mbar at idle (same car) , I have changed new intercooler ,6 new Injectors and New turbo hoses, and finally I see a lot of smoke under the turbo pcv filter, possibly a cracked exhaust manifold or a leak between down pipe and cat Converter or actuator turbo geometry doesnt work well,I can see the smoke When the car is hot in this area near cat and manifold 😢. Any advice? i have also read that barometric sensor in DDE could bé the fault,my inpa says barometric pressure 900mbar , and it will bé 1020mbar like the ambient pressure in my city.Regards from Spain.

Got a 2014 335d msport xdrive been smoking recently especially when I’ve been sitting waiting for the misses to come out of shopping idling for 5-10 mins big of hard acceleration clouds of white bluey grey smoke comes out clears up after 5 mins changed the pcv valve on valve cover had a service about 5 weeks ago Castrol edge oil and new filters 🤷🏻♂️

Can u help me please I!!!! Iv got a bmw 120d e87 177bhp iv fitted a stainless exhaust manifold and this stainless one has no hole in it for the exhaust manifold pressure sensor with the banjo bolt that goes just above where the turbo bolts on and lost boost

Just had 2 turbos refurbishment full service and had mechanic check all vacuum lines ext and when I drive I can hear air coming out after I boost he said this is normal as it should make the noise but when I first bought the car I could never hear that ? Not sure ...

Hey! E61 525d here Revised swirlflaps, iron manifold. Keep losing boost all the time but when I restart the engine while rolling, or after being parked for a while, it’s often all ok again.. Is this the electronic actuator on the turbo itself? Or maybe the boost pressure sensor? Please let me know what you think.

i thought ambient intake temperature sensor was something to do with the ac system u pointed down the pipe connected to the egr? my car was losing power so i changed the boost pressure sensor then it worked for 2 months now im getting a loss of power but it comes back like turbo isnt kicking in but then sometimes does black smoke comes out the exhaust sometimes its clear but its alot when i boot it

They pump up to help stop vibration when the engine turns off and also improve the smoothness when driving down the motorway that’s the reason for them to keep the car smooth and engine smooth remember diesel is very clattery and loud that’s why BMW’s are so silent and it keeps the engine well balanced when at idle that’s also why they don’t shake on idle like a lot of other cars they also pump air when turning corners to help corner a lot better

I’ve got a N47 diesel 2.0 L engine, there is this problem, that comes and go, usually my turbo kick in around 2000rpm, but sometimes my exhaust becomes a lot louder and then can’t hear the turbo whistle at all, and it takes at least 3000rpm to start to kick in, not sure what this could be, any ideas? Help BMW DOCTOR, my e60 530d cranks but wont start, scan tool displays 4B90 Rail Pressure monitoring on engine start, also car does not feed diesel to the common rail, diesel comes from the back and stops as it enters high pressure diesel pump! What could be the issue? Also after trying to crank it displays 6 glow plug cylinders not present codes.

glow plugs always fails on these cars its a common problem that will be your other sensor on the rail there is 2 sensors on the diesel rail that you need to check one at the back one at the front usually the front one always goes and doesn't give fault codes if your one is that's your main problem I would also not use cheap grade diesel use shell v power diesel yes its more expensive but makes these cars more reliable and run ten times better with less parts failing

@@BMWDoctor Thanks for the advice. Adding on to this, fuel doesn't reach the fuel rails at all. It's coming from the back fuel pump at the tank passes filter underneath the passenger side then stops by high pressure diesel pump! Could it be the reason um getting code 4B90 and car cranking only but not firing up?

That then will be your inline fuel pump which sits under the passenger plastic pull it down and you will see it there is another pump you have the in tank pump the inline pump and HPFP pump

I have another problem with my e60 n52. I have the diamond key. And sometimes it doesn't lock/unlock the car. Only manually. And when it doesn't work the navigation system restarts to factory mode. And when it works the navigation system it's how i set it up the language the music and everything it isn't the factory settings. Then again when it doesn't work to lock/unlock the car the navigation is in factory mode again.. And so on. I think you understand what I want to say. The diversity antenna is ok. The module in the trunk it's ok. It's on the left side. What can it be? Some days it works just fine and others not. but mostly it's not working.. I just bought it 2 months ago and I want to repair everything on it. But I'm new in the BMW it's very different and difficult for me. I can't find anything on internet to solve my problem. Any advice it's appreciated. Thanks again for solving my climate control unit!

Book it in for the latest fuseboards/cables replacement, this will probably sort all issues, I've booked mine in at the start of September, they do a full car diagnosis on everything to make sure all volt/amps on all systems are working correct, this is what they told me when I spoke to them, they offer a courtesy car for the day, but it's usually a week or two later than the first available appointment to get the works carried out, and they offer a free valeting service while it's there, better to do it sooner than later before all the other E series owners book theirs in. It's causing over/under voltage issues and part failures, Best regards

@@bibu-bib Hi, I don't think it matters, call them and ask, bmw are in Germany, I'm here in uk, but the fault is on all E series BMW, I thinks it's covers where you are, when I called, the service department knew immediately what I was talking about, I just said I would like to book me e60 5series in for the latest fuseboards and cable recall, he took my Reg number and booked it in for their earliest date available, here in the south of UK, it's the start of September. It's worth a call to the service department, remember to speak with confidence as a matter of fact in your head knowledge that there is a full e series and recall, incase if they try to fob you off and say that there isn't one. They have all been told and are gearing up to sort the mess out. Worked for me, I guess we will see if it works. Best regards

You have said it perfectly mate didn’t even know you was a subscriber to me mate but that is the exact issue mine has been done and didn’t need any re work carried out as mine was fine like I knew it would be as my car is to well looked after it took them a hour to check it and done didn’t even need to replace nothing but they do say if they find corrosion anywhere that will take a whole day or even 2 to replace everything but if yours is ok they won’t replace nothing they gave me a free video inspection of my car and also valet courtesy car they did not as I didn’t need it I have enough cars here

Hi, quick question if I may, I have a F01 730d 2009/59, I booked the car into a local BMW specialist that I have used previously to have the swirl flaps blanked/deleted as per your recommendations. After I dropped it off they called me to say that ‘good news’ my engine does not have swirl flaps. I think it might still have swirl flaps fitted. What do you think? Thanks, Philip.

My confusion is compounded that, like many ‘complicated’ cars with complex electrics/sensors, it has a few fault codes in the ECU, one is related to ‘swirl flaps’ according to the code reader.

I has a problem with my 525d E60 , keep smoking blue when I start up and black smoke when it’s on D drive or R the engine start shaking I have changed a lots things on it DPF & EGR & swilrflup delete and reamp Breather changed intercooler & glow plugs keeps smoking the last thing im gonna do it change DDE I had enough with this smoke Any ideas any help please Thanks Khalid

remap is your problem right there I will tell you what this is this is your turbo seals GONE due to the remap to much pressure on the turbo and its blown the oil seals on the turbo

mate dpf is blocked and not working that's what causes there smoke to much soot are your using it for short journeys

BMW Doctor apparently it’s got a dpf delete and been mapped out, smokes like a trooper out the exhaust! Also doesn’t accelerate hard past 60, it dies down :’( if I let off throttle and slowly accelerate it builds speed up, had fault code for blocked fuel filter and also code 41AA keeps coming up after being deleted(boost pressure actuator, pressure too high) Haven’t had it long!

Replace fuel filter, carry out smoke test and if no leaks found is there anyway of testing the actuators or is it a case of replacing them? Thanks

Conor McCowan mate if they go bad replace them as they are a common common failure on these the actuators all go bad there is 4 on them they are expensive but it’s what makes the small turbo power

Hi Dean, ive got a 525D e61 130kw, after blanking the swirl flaps, ive lost low end torque. When doing normal driving, sometimes it pulls like it should, and sometimes its just sluggish. But pulls everytime from stand still. no faults, nothing. I dont want to put swirl flaps back on again. Is the only solution for this, a remap?

wonder how those faults translate on diagnostics faults or live data. I have INPA diagnostic and no code. engine is like 75% of what it was, there is weak pull through the full rev range (once i had only low down no boost), it goes, but it's just not what it used to be...pressure converters changed, pipes checked (not sure if thoroughly tho) but again, it's like it has weak traction from the spot, then it has ok mid range and then it's weak at high rev....it's 35d engine...i wish I live closer to you damn,

Hi Dean, great video again👍 My 2006 739d M57 engine is making a quack / farting noise when at idle. It’s a rhythmic noise and is coming from the side of the engine just back from the screen wash reservoir. The car also emits black smoke under heavy acceleration. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks and keep up the great channel 👍

Hi, I own a BMW E90 3.0D with m57tu2 (231hp) and I have problem with the pipe shown on 1:53 . After I put it in place, drive for a while (3-5days, medium push on the car - normal and hard driving) it keeps getting displaced and the car is loosing boost(not all of the boost). I checked for OEM part but is it too damn expensive. Any suggestions? The bracket is new so this is not the issue...
