Can't thank you enough for this video chap, just picked up the girlfriends 08 Mini Cooper and only realised the knocking when we got back to Devon ( rough roads ). Picked up the new bushes the next day and put them in that eve, now I have a quiet cooper and a happy girlfriend. Your a star

A really helpful video. My wife has just purchased a Mini with an annoying knocking sound coming from the rear N/S suspension. I've tried the obvious, boot stops, seat belts, tool kit and then came across this vid. I'll be fitting the part next weekend. Many thanks!

Great video. Thanks to you, I switched my rear bushings out about as quick as you did! The bushings were a bit cracked and holes were enlarged from wear. Definitely in need of replacement.I still had the rattle/knocking after however. So, I replaced the rear sway bar end links. Problem solved. The ball joints were worn and knocking. Thanks again!

Cheers mate, clear and concise. Against your advice, I've ordered some powerflex ones 'cos they are only 25 quid. 4.50 x 6 is 27 quid, so using your own calculation, it's worth it at that price with the time saved.

I thought this might be the problem with my daughters R50 2004 Mini One but it's not even fitted with a rear ARB. It hasn't been removed, there are no bolt holes for the Bush Brackets.

Ahoy selfsilent thanks for the video good work , I found this video by looking for advice as my mini cooper 2002 has a scraping squeaking sound from back wheel - something is connecting on turning as you drive slowly. It stops when it rains so when its wet & spent cash on changing barrings that did f-all to fix problem so please do you have any idea what can cause it & how to fix it?

I'd recommend checking the brake pads aren't too worn or delaminated and that the discs aren't too worn, warped or rusty.

+Evil from evilution Thanks. Do you think it would able to tell by touch and feel? I had a mechanic quickly raise it up but he couldn't find any loose part.
@evilution_ltd9 жыл бұрын
+BelRiose2000 I couldn't detect any movement on the one I did in the video. The amount of force required to move the anti roll bar is more than 1 person can create.
@ADirtyPanda977 жыл бұрын
BelRiose2000 you will never find it on a 2 post ramp, lift it on a 4 post mot ramp so the weight is on the wheels then swing on the roll bar by the bush. You will be able to see it move up and down and if it’s proper fucked it will make the knocking sound. Some times if there proper Rogered there will be a small gap inside the bush where the bar sits inside.

I had a rattle in my Mini and had the dealer replace the rubber bushings. It still rattles. I've checked everything under the car and there is still a rattle. It's like there is a loose beer bottle rolling around back there. Has anyone else had this problem?
@TheWorldOfKel10 жыл бұрын
Yes I have had rattling sound and I've found when you drop spare tire and plastic triangle thing that tires rests against when tire is fully up. That bracket rattles against bottom side of car, I took cloth rag, folded it couples times, wedged in there and BOOM!!!! No more rattle! Hope this helps you out.....
@DanRaabecoach201410 жыл бұрын
Thanks. But I don't have a spare tire. Also just had the sway bar bushings replaced. I put the car on a lift recently and couldn't see or feel the problem. Still a mystery.

Get them sprayed in penetrating spray and repeat it every day for a week before trying. Not WD40.

@garrietaylor95197 жыл бұрын
clearly this service job is well below your normal - copper grease should have been applied to the inside of the bushes them self's - wheel lock nuts should always be secured in a "cross pattern" - report card reads could do better
@evilution_ltd7 жыл бұрын
They are dry bushes fitted at the factory and they were replaced by OEM dry bushes. Clue is in the name. If you really feel like you have to unnecessarily lubricate them, go for lithium grease or red rubber grease. However, it's really only poly bushes that should be greased. Cross pattern tightening is important on engines, not on wheels, especially when you go around more than once.
@warwickdean5 жыл бұрын
Copper grease 😂 that's not really a lubricant for rubber now is it. Not that it's needed anyhow.
