BMW MSD80 Fuel Injector Fault Code Diagnosis - 30BA 30BB

BMW models with Turbocharged N54 engines and MSD80 DME Software can develop fuel injector MOSFET driver failure. This will cause an injector to stop delivering fuel and an engine misfire to occur. The check engine light will be ON with the related Fault Codes (error messages):
30BA DME digital motor electronics, internal failure
30BB DME digital motor electronics, internal failure
This video shows you how to diagnose these fault codes and test the signal from the DME to the fuel injectors. You will also see how to isolate and test each wire for the fuel injectors and test the DME MOSFET Drivers.

WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE: Piezo injectors normally operate at voltages up to 200 volts. Extreme care should be taken to protect against shock. Do not touch any of the injector terminals while the engine is running.

The Mosfet driver can be replaced. you don't need a replacement DME!!

When you disconnected the battery and DME connectors, you were testing voltage how did you get 12.4v or you connected the battery without DME?

I have misfire on all injectors. I checked wires and dme all looks fine and i have tested it .Injectors are. What can be the problem? Car wont stop

I followed the instruction to check the mosfets. I got 0 between drain and gate and around 370K ohms between drain and source. Is that correct or do mosfet need to be replaced?

Thankyou for uploading this video... I have been looking for these waveform, where some controls both wires to injectors.. in this case can we test for current/voltage in any wire or need to identify signal wire ?

have renewed the defective mosfet and now comes error P10A5. (Previously, the error was 30BA and P10A8) I can't remove/delete the P10A5 error. Why?

Doesn't the ecu turn off a whole bank, if codes 30BA and 30BB are present? If so, then on that bank, there should be no signals to check.

what if i use an DMM instead of a scope? I mean set the DMM to measure AC voltage and compare good injector signal vs bad one? The DMM AC voltage will measure the RMS voltage of the square wave.

DME (MSVD1724) have valvtronic motor fault coad ,tried many times couldn't erased ,which ic is cause of this fault coad

i have fault codes 1f2201 and 1f2301 engine dont start .. can it be a mistake dme?

I have done this last test and they all beep. Does that mean my entire dem is bad and needs replacement. Code always stays and it's the same injectors number 3,5,6. How can I replace the mosfet on this board

Exactly what test you did? If it beeps on injectors wires it means wires are good. But if you getting fault at 3 cylinders(whole bank) most likely your DME injectors or coils mosfits are bad. Or O2 sensor, AFR.

There must be no sound to the left and right, but in the middle there is. If there is sound on the left or right, then the mosfet is defective.

I can not understand how to test resistance with a light and a voltmeter.

what if the code goes away when injector 1 is unplugged, and all other injectors are plugged in? when injector 1 is connected, I get 30BA code.

For the love of god, let someone with some decent tools replace the mosfets. The hack jobs I have seen on this platform are ... giving me the heebee jeebies.
