BMW N43 rough idle, vibrating, shaking, NOx sensor errors and cheap repair.

BMW 1 series E87 N43 Engine due to faulty NOx sensor had rough running, shaking, vibrating, unstable idle and sudden loss of power on the go.
Diagnostics showed error codes:
-Misfire on cylinder 1, 2, 3, 4;
-Cylinder equalization via irregular running on all cylinders;
-Nitrogen-oxide sensor (NOx) electric;
-Nitrogen-oxide sensor (NOx) lambda linear;
-Nitrogen-oxide sensor (NOx) lambda binary;
-Rough running stratified-charge mode;
-Nitrogen-oxide sensor (NOx) offset.
All these error codes are the result of NOx sensor malfunction due to N43 very very complicated ECOLOGY.
Searched for new NOx sensor for cheaper price and found on ebay some analog shown on video.
After replacement no more engine shaking, no misfires at any load conditions. Stable idle when cold and hot.
Sensor changing procedure is very simple and can be done in 30 min. Can give an explanation if interested.

Did you have your engine light on before this? I've got the same issue but there is no engine light and I haven't checked any of the codes.

Hey, did the nex NOx sensor hold up, or did it brake again? Has the catalytic converter ever been replaced on that car (at 200+ thousand kms it should have broken down, at least thats what they say). I just bought an N43 petrol E90 and am having NOx sensor errors, and I'm pondering whether I should get a new sensor from ebay or pay 3 times as much for a NOXEM emulator. My car is at 170K kms and Im afraid that the catalytic converter itself may die at any moment now, in which case replacing the sensor would be a rather temporary solution as opposed to installing NOXEM and forgetting about the catalytic converter and NOx sensor forever.

Hello guy, I own a 2009 model 318i gasoline vehicle, everything is normal when I start my vehicle in the morning, but after 15 20 minutes, it starts to vibrate and traction drops, rolanti fluctuation and the fault lamp starts to flash. It is hard to answer. You should look for part number for your engine (possibly part number is substituted and is ok)

@@jeromegabriel1256 not all N43 2.0 are the same. Like N47 (318d, 320d, 325d with 2.0d). They may have different upgrade lines . Like N47N, N47U0, N47U2, N47TU. Please check your part number by your VIN at bmw parts catalog online. And I think everything will be OK.

ECU is hidden under heat shield. It is located right after the gearbox. Check by wire from sensor.

how many miles had the car done when the fault happened?

If this is the first time it broke, 221011km*0,62 = 137 thousand miles. My N43 engined 116i has the same problem now at 105 000km.. :/

My car idle is weird, when i accelerate harded to like 3-4k rpm and then put it in neutral gear, it stalls. Only codes i have are NOx sensor related, could it be the issue?

NOx could be an issue. Especially, if error codes are thrown out. Engine ECU trying to correct mixture, depending on parameters given by NOX sensor.

Русский? Короче ты на ебей заказал эту байду за 120-130 евро, да? У меня та же фигня сейчас, троит на холодную минуты 2-3. Потом нормально, однако изредка замечаю, как двигатель просаживает при нажатии педали. Ошибки те же, чё то с электрикой NOX, пропуски зажигания иногда. Я его отключал, ничего не менялось, даже Торк ошибки не видел. И ещё почему-то не показывает температуру после катализатора. В общем стоит заказывать?

Owee Gooss , норм сенсор. Больше Никаких пропусков, вибраций и дерганий на ходу. Не знаю как долго он будет работать, но пока 4 недели и все ок. Что у тебя с темп после ката не могу комментировать.

@@headliner4936 заменил на такой же в общем, но не помогло. Утром потроила пару минут. Проблема явно с долгосрочной топливной коррекцией. Чем она теплее, тем ближе к нулю. Утром вообще до -30 доходит, уж не знаю, что делать.
