Fantastic job, you are very good in what you are doing with all these N47, N57 engines, you give them second chance and i absolutely agree with frequent oil changes, i'll do them every 6kmls on my n47 and m47 engines. Wish you all the best. 👌 👍

@@uttomnandi9064 I would check the oil filter, as I’ve did in this video. If it has no metal particles, the tapping noise and loss of performance can be a failing injector.

I am thankful every single day for this place. I’ve started in my sister’s garage, barely could walk around the car, that narrow it was, jack stands and first timing chain job. I’ve been doing it for days, after work and weekend, but till this day, best feeling ever when that car started😀

Good video but there are some things that I think you missed! First, you removed an N47d16 (1600 version) and replaced it with a N47d20 (2000 version). Even though it is working properly, when searching for parts it will show you, for example, injector for the 1.6 instead for the 2.0d. Thats an important note to remember. Second, you missed the codification of the injector. Doesn’t matter if they are used or new, even if you changed positions you must code them in order to get the best performance and good DPF regenerations 😉 Keep bringing 1 series, I really like them too! It would be nice to see one with the 3 cylinder b37 engine for a timing chain replacement (I saw the Mini video btw)! 🙂
@W15Garage7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Both engines are n47d16a, I’ve clarified that in the video(3:15 in the video) Also mentioned that n47 comes in two different versions, 1.6 and 2.0 Unless they are new or refurbished injectors, I never ever code them. If i can find a b37 I’ll make video with it 😊
@Mixy887 ай бұрын
He’s right. Unless new, don’t code used injectors. ECU will adapt in minutes to the replacement one(needs to be the same exact part numbers of course) but no coding is required.
@duartegomes94557 ай бұрын
@@W15Garage I’m sorry, I missed that part of the video 😢 Usually the 1.6d comes with the red dipstick instead of the black one. Did you replaced it on the donor engine or it already came with the black one from de donor car? Why don’t you code them? Is there a reason? According to the BMW procedures, you should code them. That’s what I do and what I advise too 😉

@@duartegomes9455 No problem mate!😀 Only the new ones, i’ve messed up once 4 used vw injectors by coding them. Car was spot on after the injector swap a few weeks, but my friend(the owner) kept insisting to code them. Once I’ve done that, the car ran like rubbish, shaking smoking, by coding them in seconds the injectors were messed up …Later I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a professional injector refurbisher from Gloucester, he explained the situation, only new or refurbished injectors to be coded. Never had any problems since, i m only coding the refurbished ones, used ones just swap, and a short adaptation test drive. I will try to do a video about this topic if I’m at the injector guy next time, he could explain in detail the process.

Hello. Ive been subscribed to your chanel for a while now. Absolutly love it! I have a quick question..i have a x5 40d. The n57. I was going to drain coolant so i located the bottom hose but it doesnt want to budge. Feels like im.going to snap somthing if i pull to hard! Is there a technique to get it off?
@W15Garage7 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes it’s a pain with coolant hoses. I always remove the metal clip completely, and spray a little wd40 in the channel where the clipp sits with a flat head screwdriver you can gently pry in and out using that channel to get it moving. It’s a pain, but pe patient😊 good luck

Injectors must be coded due to manufacturing difficulties in acquiring identical injection quantities and the coding tells the car whether it needs more or less fuel by telling the ecu the exact injection amount the injector has, so the car can keep the injector open or closed longer.
@W15Garage3 ай бұрын
@@nemz7505 Yes when fitting new or refurbished injectors that come with new calibration codes. If replacing injectors with used ones, leave them alone never code them.

As far as I’m aware, the N47D20C is Euro 5 and the B47 is Euro 6, but don’t quote me on this-I might be wrong. What I know for sure is that all my cars with N47D20C engines were not London ULEZ exempt, which means they are Euro 5.
