I thought the same! 😁 My question would be (2011 X3/F25 30d, 255,000 km), as I have the parts needed, but should I wait till I can discover any leakage? Then there is a pending recall on the EGR-cooler on this car, a 13 year old car... Should I carry a fire distinguisher with me? 🥺

How would he know it’s original. It can’t be must have all been changed. No way a belt has lasted that long.

Just mine on a 2018 X5 N57 engine with aprox 110k and had absolut no issues. I soaked them with mousemilk for about 10 minutes with engine still warm as recommended by the repair manual.

Yes, I have the N47 engine also on one of my project cars. There's no one else on the internet that shows the glow plug change. Will probably get a lot of views.

Another good one George. I think you are either very tough, or live in some sort of micro-climate! it's still bloody freezing here in Huddersfield, I need more than a T shirt inside the house! Been waiting for a decent day for weeks now so that I can throw a set of front brake pads in my E46. Annoyingly, can't get in my garage yet because the E31 project is months away from being able to be moved. Keep up the good work.

Replaced all in less than an hour crikey... good going that. These garages say "We'll need the car for the day" and never charge 1 hours labour for replacing a number of parts. Not the garages I've been to anyway. Good work.

I’ve recently just done the exact same jobs on my E60 530D plus a few other things…also on 188k miles and everything was also original 😅. Although my car wasn’t getting up to temp, but you couldn’t tell unless you used a scan tool to check as the car has no temp gauge from factory. (Only through a secret menu)

@@dominotr7yeah although to be fair some of the parts shouldn’t have been on my car, they weren’t fully “broken” but if the car isn’t getting warmer than 55 degrees then clearly the factory thermostats have had it 😅 just cos the car still runs doesn’t mean it’s fine. And I think that’s the issue with these cars is that a lot of people run them into a ground cos on the surface it’s not broken but if you dig deeper then it’s obviously not healthy. Which is a shame but typical for these BMWs as most people simply don’t look after them.

Don't buy INA drivebelt for this engine. It squeaks after few months. The Continental belt is much better. The same goes for the thermostat. Only OE BMW ensures proper operation and the engine holds the correct temperature in winter. Tried Mahle and Meyle - it reaches 87* and when you stop it drops to 75*C very quickly.

Ive got 320d N47 similar age - I think my noises from the belt drive system are from the Alternator OAP/clutch - any experience of swapping that out in situ? I dont fancy removing the alternator and having to discon the battery

On mine it’s stamped in the high pressure fuel pump area. I had to spray WD-40 on the letters to be able to read them.

How come the water pumps last so long on those if it’s looked after I personally think the n47s are great engines just need regular servicing.

Yes it’s not a common failure point on these engines to be honest.. they’ll probably leak before they fail
