BMW N53 engine problem

Metallic clicking (on-off) noise from engine compartment when reving the throttle gently!

I think it could be something to do with the electronic throttle body, although I'm not sure. These N53 engines lack Valvetronic, unlike the N52, so these engines use an electronically controlled throttle body to control the amount of air coming into the engine.

Hard to tell, manual gearbox? If yes then sounds like it could be the dual mass flywheel failing.

EasySolutions GlosUK Thanks. Yes, it has a manual gerabox and gear changes are not smooth so you are likely correct. I never had similar problem on my previous cars so I thought this sound is the engine problem. I will check the flywheel at my mechanic shop. Thanks again.

I have not found out yet. Actually not even trying because I had million other things happening in my life. In the coming months I will probably do something about it.
