It's a concept. All BMWs in production have either retractable physical shades or, in the case of the iX, an electrochromatic shade that blocks the sunlight.

I think I could have done a better job of introducing this car than just pointing out the obvious as I walked around. I certainly would have asked about how that enormous glass roof was going to be covered in the blistering sun - have a sunshade/electrochromic/tinting. How about why people buy electric cars - to have some sort of VTL/VTG/VTX capability to charge their home etc. As for BMW - why survey what BMW owners would like ie: switches, and then pander to the Chinese who don't like switches - I see where the priorities are - follow the money.
