Hi, my GS/PD is one year older than yours - be glad you didn't experience the OEM front brake calliper, it was hopelessly inadequate even with the bike unloaded. My first mod was the steel braided brake hose and the Billet-6 calliper, super effective, so much so that the front forks twisted after an emergency stop, wish I had gone for a double disk. The OEM brake disk lasted about 20,000 km - a thin spot occurred about half a hand palm in size (kangaroo braking). BMW refused to replace it free in their usual snotty manner. The original rear brake shoes were useless (1st generation without asbestos), either stand on it and lock the wheel or no effect. Eventually I replaced them with after-market shoes which work fairly well (when they debonded I used super glue which has lasted years). Also installed a BMW voltmeter which shows exactly what's happening. And the exhaust Y-pipe that you have. The OEM plastic panniers are amazingly strong if you crash! Installed an Öhlins rear shock that now needs a service after some 20 years - the service charge is so high I have bought a Wilbers shock and progressive fork springs instead (about to be installed). The OEM fork springs have always been awful off-road, ought to have replaced them years ago. Have also lowered the foot pegs and moved them slightly forward, my knees couldn't cope with the angle. Best engine mod was high quality battery cables, improved starting amazingly. Really appreciate your channel.🕊

Mine came with a Wilbers shock. I love it. I had the chance to ride the same bike with stock suspension. It was night and day. Regarding the side stand: I never use it. I always put her on the center stand.

The centre stand is great, but I think I would really struggle without a side stand when I am touring.

I just this month decided to upgrade my ignition system with the Wedgetail unit out of Australia 🦘. Opted for the high end unit that has separate switchable backup redundancy built in for the processor and trigger. It has massively transformed the bikes nature, and does not even feel like the same bike, in every positive way I can tell! My bike has 100+K miles on it.
