BMW R1150GS Review (2001)

My black one is now 20 years old. Never misses a beat and gobbles up huge Kms with 6'3" me and the Missus on board, often pulling trailer. Great bike.

I’ve owned over 30 bikes, all sorts and all sizes. I’ve now owned a GSA for over 16 years, it’s without doubt the best bike for so many different reasons. Recently the ABS decided to fail, the cost of replacing the Servo unit is just not worth it, so now it’s without ABS but the brakes are so good it didn’t really need the servo (would have liked to have kept the ABS though). I have looked at the new GS1250 and I could buy one (monkey not a problem), but the older 1150 for some reason is more of planted ride.

@@RajerThatYT, I am hoping it's the hall sensor unit that has failed on my 2002 GSA. Bought one to swap out.

Agreed, my 1150GS is definitely better planted. Forever making minor adjustments on my 1200gsa, don’t notice it so much now, but I thought very noticeable when first riding the 1200.

Just found one same colour 03 plate been sat in someones garage since 2012 absolute mint condition with 3000 miles on the clock lovely bike

Very, very nice review! You are a master at reviewing motorcycles. I bought one of these this week on the used market. I am to pick it up this coming Saturday. I am very excited. Only wish I had found these marvelous motorcycles sooner. Now, at 67 years old, I will have to make the best of it! Thanks for the video!!!

Had mine over twenty years now.. Took me earlier in the year through southern Zambia Botswana Namiba down to Capetown and back along South Africa’s east coast and never missed a beat.. My only grip was having to reset the ABS from time to time..I just wish it could be fixed properly...

I had exactly one of these. Man, I loved that bike. Wish I still had it. I was worried about the miles I had on it, nearly 90k, or just wanted a new bike. Can't remember exactly. Seems a mute point now...

Yeah i think about 550lbs w fuel. I put 40k miles on mine the first year i had it. Handles like a dream. Power brakes are amazing. Everything still works and going strong at 17 years old.

Wolfy Maceastern mine has 111,800 miles and looks and rides like new. It's all about how the previous owners treated the bike. That boxer engine can last at least 500,000 miles with proper service.
