This is the most professional, adequate and straight forward video on how to change the R1200 GS battery.

Very helpful. Thank you. My model year 2018, UK bike, has a different, much larger / different shape battery retaining bracket than the one in your video which fooled me for a while, but in fact it comes off in the same way as your show in your video. (Basically, lift it vertically a few millimetres and then the bottom and two side fixings come free. The negative terminal wire was also routed differently (over the top of the battery, from the rear of the battery compartment) but that was no challenge. Thanks again. Your video really helped.

Brilliant, sir! My particular issue had been how to detach the battery retainer bracket; as opposed to other videos, yours made it very clear. Thank you.

Thanks ! You helped me a lot even I tried long time to take off the retainer bracket. In your comments, that should be well to insist on that step, writing to not hesitate to raise battery at the same time. Thanks again for help

Good video, I’d just add, when you ‘say’ gently slide the battery out. You need to lift it up before it slides towards you. I placed a flat head screw driver under the battery to prise it up then pull it out towards you.
@AffyNoX4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right on that one. It need to be lifted slightly.

Hi there. Thanks for the video. Nice, simple, comprehensive. Question; is it the same on a 2005 BMW 1200GS? standard GS, not GSA.
@AffyNoX4 жыл бұрын
I believe 2005 model GS the battery is underneath the rider seat. Remove it, then there is holder for the on-board documentation to be remove. It's held in place with 1 screw. Once that is remove you can remove the battery. Hope this help. I did not own a 2005 GS to have a better presentation on it. Had work on R1100RS that one the battery is in more difficult access.

Great video. Are there any issues with removing the battery for 3 months during the winter?
@AffyNoX5 жыл бұрын
Saor Alba I don’t see any problem in that. Depending on ECU type, the volatile memory could be wipe out and will need to relearn your riding style. Apart from this possibilities I can’t think of anything else that could go wrong.

Precise explanation ! No special Torque required?
@AffyNoX5 жыл бұрын
There are torque value as BMW service manual. But since battery terminal are quite common I just use general tightness as most battery terminal. The cover is not a critical item so I don’t bother with torque value too. For critical items I will use a torque wrench. However please follow the service manual if in doubt.

Nice video ..... Hey ... does anyone know what the BMW battery costs in the USA ? Glad there are other batteries for this .... BMW parts are nasty expensive and they really are not any better than other part sellers offer.
@AffyNoX4 жыл бұрын
As replacement I just use Yuasa, they are good. Beemer batteries is just a rebrand and over here in Kuala Lumpur it is about 200 US each. You are right there, the bmw batteries is not any better that after market. I use R1100RS before, and on that bike I use panasonic industrial battery that is about 20 ~ 30 US a piece, it work. I just replace it every year.

Thanks for telling me that, I did send the bike for warranty claim in 2017. They replaced the battery and nobody else has work on it. Not sure if the dealer has forgotten to put it back. Anyway, I had since change to a different bike now.

hi bro, tahan berapa lama battery yuasa ni?
@AffyNoX4 жыл бұрын
Usually around 2 years, tetapi kalau jarang jalan cepat rosak. Untuk lanjutkan usia battery elok guna charger yang ada trickle dan maintenance function. Boleh tahan lebih lama.
