Yep, since I don't ride 2-up, no need for the extra weight. That's why I also removed the passenger pegs and got the exhaust hanger.

It's in one of my videos I believe. Just mock it up and drill holes in the plate and screw the Pro ring on.

Hi. I have just got a 1300 GS and I am thinking of this set up for the majority of my rides. Would I need to take this off to install pannier racks or can I simply add the pannier rack (not top box) when on tour?

If you are going to use the BMW Vario panniers, then yes, you will need to remove the grab handle. For other aftermarket panniers, you should be fine.

When you disconnected the Vario connections, did it generate any fault codes through the Canbus system that had to be cleared with a GS911, assuming you have one?

Nope. If you don't plan on ever using those Vario cases, just unplug them, wrap the connectors with electrical tape to protect them from elements, and tuck them away. No code errors...

Nah, it's not that bad. But once someone comes up with a tail tidy that contains the rear radar, I'll jump on it.
