Thanks for the video, helped me a lot. Two things for the future visitors: 1. If you have gasoline engine and manual transmission, you can encounter radiator with two unused small pipes on both sides (one for intercooler, one for auto transmission) and no blanking cap. Don't panic, it will probably fit, just use correct plugs on the both sides and there won't be any leaks. I bought Nissens radiator and it worked that way. 2. A little lifehack from me for the hoses that don't come off easily. Notice that when you use compressed air upside down, it will spray with freezing cold nitrogen. So put your hand around the outer side of the hose-radiator joint and spray compressed air upside down around the place just before the metal clip. Doing this, you make the inner part cooler and therefore a little smaller, so you should be able to pull the hose off quite easily. Worked great for me.

I use carb cleaner with the straw inside quick connect fuel couplings to clear debris before inserting the release tool it should also work well to dissolve and clean the gunk out of the coolant connector.

Thanks. This was invaluable for my recent radiator replacement in 120i. After filling with coolant engine takes about 20 minutes at idle before temperature got high enough to open thermostat and coolant to circulate. Use hidden menus on display to bring up engine coolant temperature. Fan kicks in at about 90c.

did you drain the radiator before you did this? seems to be very little leaking coolant from the hoses your removing, and when i went to drain mine i found my turbo's intercooler was under the radiator and 100% blocked access to the drain plug on the radiator. So wondering how you drained it, if you did. or did yours not have a turbo?

Look this was years ago but I normally remove the bottom hose at the start to drain the coolant. MRT

Is your car manual or automatic? Just a difference with the radiator apparently, also what silicone lubricant did you use? Wd40, or white silicone lubricant?

Glenn Hi. Watch the video through. You’ll see me removing and fitting the auto trans cooler. Yes the radiators are different. There is also an extra port in some models. Which I show in the video as well

If you fit the short drain plug on an automatic car, it will work fine until your gearbox warms up and the thermostat in the transmission cooler opens. Then all of your coolant will piss out of the bottom of your car. My mechanic did this to me.
