Bmw series 1 heater matrix remove and replace easy way

You are an absolute legend. I have just completed doing this. And now my car is fixed with no leaks. If you find that your windows fog up quick. It is very likely that your heater matrix is leaking into the cabin. Having following your instructions has saved me hundreds. All in it took me 3 hours.

Excellent this also works on a e92 bmw! Heater matrix was leaking and blocked Due to rad seal! Done these steps worked a treat!

Hi Mark, Top man for making this - you’re a real saint! One question, is the rubber piping enough to take the pressure over time? I always thought the cooling system was pretty highly pressurised!? Cheers

I tried this on my E93 and ruptured the new heater matrix on reinstallation 😖 the top part of the heater matrix wouldn’t clear the upper plastic above the fan shroud. I pressed it too hard and the new heater matrix ended up leaking

@@grattsmark After I replaced this completely I was notified of a small coolant on the system checked and no coolant on the tank in advance I had changed the thermostat but why did I lose all the coolant after I changed the fan? any connection? can not see signs of leaks BMW 1 series 118i E87 but the car runs well.

in my bmw series 1. i took apart everything. it looks like there is aircon matrix infront of the heater matrix. as this doesnt show in your video. so it looks like its in the way. do i continue with the same procedure by cutting the 2 pipes?

only getting warm of not even that sometimes cold and if you looked in the expansion tank it looked like rad stop was used which can block the radiator up as well and yes did the trick hot as anything now

It was just water hose from parkers the parts people 👍👍

@@mathewchappell9971 because I was getting little or no heat from inside the car and when I replaced the heater matrix it was lovely and hot inside the car on inspection of the old heater matrix that it was all blocked on the inside hope this helps

Good idea but broke that fan case in half when tried to bend it. If I saw this before I attempted to do anything probably would have done better. Or the easy way would be to flush just did not believe it would do a better job than changing core. Now i have to find a way how to change a fan case which is held by 3 little screws and an access is non existing I would say. Probably will need yo remove everything panel metal frame and even all that heating plastic thing. I always learn a hard way...

Johan Schnetler have you done yours and did you drain the coolant? I’ve got the same problem, cold on the drivers side. Also how do go about flushing it to try that first?

@@bradleymulvie2728 did you manage to fix yours? Mines cold on the drivers side with a little warmth on passenger side. Was it the heater core that was your problem?? (Bmw 1 series)

@@lindley111 yeah, I done my heater matrix this time last year. It wasn’t easy doing it from under the glove box but it worked a treat 👌🏻 still good as new and a luxury to have hot both sides now!
