The speakers are custom impedance three prong 6.5" speakers. Our Stage I kit is a perfect plug-n-play replacement. Your other option is to use 5.25" speakers on custom fabricated adapter plates, bypass the factory amplifier and use an aftermarket head unit. For most people the Stage I is a better option for upgrading : )

I’ll say tight. E36 have the worst door panels ever made. Everyone that comes in the shop they are falling off because they fall apart and if you don’t re epoxy them asap they break and then it’s screwed. Such a much better built car. The old ones stay together. I got your stage 1 for my M3. Sounds a lot better. Thanks for a great and easy

Please help me! The first small plastic clip you pulled off (on the handle) on the left door has a side mirror moving function, how do i take it off and get to that bolt under it?? I cant figure that out...i got all the bolts out except that one and i cant get the door off coz of it! plz help!

I'm about to place an order on your website, but decided to take apart my rear deck first to see if everything is stock (bought a used E46 2003). It seems like the previous owner removed the "paper cup" that each of the rear deck speakers sit in. Does this make a difference in sound quality? Also, do you sell them? Are they necessary?

Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, the Bavsound amplifier upgrade isn't compatible with your generation BMW and we don't have any plans to make a version for the older model vehicles. We are not aware of any simple aftermarket amp solutions for the E chassis models as they are a closed system that would require a full rewiring of the the entire vehicle to do an amp upgrade. The best solution we can recommend is an OEM replacement.

What size speakers are the mid range front? 2.5? I’m having a hard time finding anything aftermarket to replace the 2.5 Mids. Any suggestions? I’m talking about front door panels and rear. They have different casings to sit in door but speaker is same.

hello mate, i own a 2011 bmw 320d it has a bmw proffesional music system i want to upgrade it .... but how will i deal with the warning sounds of seat belt and warning sounds of parking sensor my music installation fellow says he will keep the original and via the stock player connect a pioneer DEQ-7600 or DEQ9200 or DEQ p8000 vat should i do ?????

@sbn378 Depending on your E46 there are custom-designed 3/4 tweeters, 2.5" midranges, and 6.5" midbasses. No aftermarket speakers will fit. If you go to BAVSOUND DOT COM and select your exact vehicle you can get more information. Thanks.

Night and day. The factory drivers are harsh, muddy, and flat. The new drivers are open, detailed, and articulate, and actually sound lively and have "depth".

Hi thebigbug227, not to worry only 1 in 3 airbags deploy when removing the doorpanel, so your odds are not too bad . . . Hahaha . . . No don't worry it's never ever happened. They deploy from an electronic signal not removing the plug. There would otherwise be some very unhappy BMW techs out there : )

eggr17ify Yes! The sound quality difference is night and day. You won't receive more volume, but you'll get a lot more clarity, openness, depth, and a more 3-Dimensional soundstage. Your midbass will be tighter and your high end will be much smoother and yet detailed. Hope this helps.

They are custom-designed 3-prong-mount 6.5" drivers that we have engineered replacements for. Check out bavsound dot com. . . If you replace them yourself you'll need to use a custom mounting plate and 5.25" drivers.

I bought an aftermarket amp (trunk) and Im using 14 (maybe 16) gauge wire from the amp and tapped it to the original (18, maybe 20 gauge?) wire that goes from the underseat sub to the speaker door (new ones too) as ill save myself all the wire run process to the door. Is there ANY problem with doing this? I ask because whenever I play too loud it starts smelling funny and Im not sure if its just the "new speaker smell" or if theres something heating up (the thinner wire). I already made sure my speakers could handle the amp.

Don't mind my user name haha. I have the 2000 323i sedan. I am getting different information from all around about the sizes. Are the front doors 5.25" for mid bass and 3.5" for the mid range? Are the mid ranges the same for the back doors?

@DJ Coin Laundry I did jbl gx600c speakers to very good effect. I used the scoche adapters with locktited screws to hold the front woofers in and cut out aluminum adapter plates with a scroll saw for the rears. I found a new in box set with two addition floor model woofers on ebay for $90. I used 4 tymphany ne65-04 speakers for midrange. I had to lightly dremel the one ridge in the bore of the mount I also dremeled down two of the locking tab ends so they lock the speaker in. Also had to dremel the raised ridge on the back of the tabs a bit so the screw ring could tighten down. The jbl tweeters with their supplied flush mounts slip right into factory tweeter mounts. I had to lighly file the jbl plastic mount for it to clear in the back. It sounds simply fantastic. The tweeters might be a touch loud, I may add a resistor to quiet them.

But all of them have 3 speakers in the front door: One 6.5" lower in the door and a 2.5" midrange and 1" tweeter higher up. In some BMW's there is "basic" audio configuration setup, which did not have 3 speakers in front door, but only 2 speakers , the lower 6,5" and a 1" tweeter next to side-mirrors. What would be the best price/quality speakers/manufacturer or speaker model's, to choose for this kind of setup. Or maybe someone, have customized their E46 , and replaced the 2 speaker doors with 3 speaker doors, is there a lot of wiring to do , and do you need another OEM amplifier for those additional speakers. Because in my "basic" setup I have 6 speakers , 4 in front doors and 2 in back behind seats. Where the "not-so-basic" "Hi-Fi" almost / Harman Kardon setup , has 10 speakers: 6 in front doors , 2 in back doors , and 2 in the back behind seats. P.s. I have a 2002 FaceLift Sedan , 330d 135kw. With aftermarket head unit.

Hi Cristi, the specs of our Stage I are designed just for the factory amp and run in odd values like for example 2.5 ohms at 22 watts. . . These values vary dramatically from driver to driver as well. So basically our our Stage I is designed to work with your factory amp and not ideally suited to an aftermarket amp in the E46. E90s and higher work better with aftermarket amps. I hope this helps! Good luck!

They would need to be custom 3 prongs instead of the typical 4 and the mounting depth would need to be shallow enough to not hit the window glass or other structures, and they would need to be in 1.6 - 2.5 ohm depending on what system you have. That's why we manufacture our own drivers : )

Remember people when you replace your stereo with a modern stereo blutooth radio yo will gain more power this will make your stereo clip bit not your subwoofers. There is also 2ohm speakers for your door 3.5inch 4 inch 6.5 inch that have more power and sound incredible. I spent half the money on focal that sound way better than these . Do your research. It a plug and play by focal, Rockford fosgate and many more. I run alpine by head unit, focal door speakers and two cerwin Vega pros to a ppi 2ohm amp. Alle great is stock. Everything plug and play.

some people should not making videos. Especially when you do not know what you're doing, there no need to take off the handle on the door to change the speakers. all you have to do is release the Clips around the door after loosening the handle. there's no need to do all of that work that you did .you or wasting time and adding extra work that is not necessary.
