Not to be picky Bob as I could not present a review to save my life but when you’re talking about digital dials vs non digital the dials aren’t ‘manual’ they are ‘analogue’. Just thought I’d mention. 👍🏼

Next one for push are petrol models. Currently euro 6 d certification for diesels is quite high: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards with nox quite close to petrol but with petrol having two times higher co2. It's a push for starting to think about electric cars, diesels are already demonized, I suspect petrol one are next.

Would be really interested to know if the 118 petrol is any good, given diesel resale values could be problematic in a few years. Also, if you could do a quick vid of other colours/specs that are available that would be great. I keep seeing the same colour/spec on other videos.

Curious, the 225XE the powertrain is taken from is 4WD, sort of, as there is a rear electric motor. Perhaps taking their cue from Toyota and making the rear motor optional on the X1

@@BobFlavinVideo Shouldn't be hard to fix, the same powertrain has been around for years in the 'Active Tourer' so nothing new. The question is why the hell BMW wasted effort putting it in an MPV no one wants instead of an SUV that everyone wants.

Great review as ever, but BMW are so yesterday, diesel, petrol, and a PHEV next year, but No full electric plans. BMW still haven't figured out what their strategy is. Tesla Model 3 will eat into their 3 series and 5 series sales, Model S already making inroads into 7 series. Jag iPace, Audi e-Tron are good premium cars, BMW have allowed themselves to get left behind in the rush towards BEV. Honda to be 100% BEV by 2025, phasing out all petrol and diesel. BMW seem dead in the water, its on the way, when. PHEV is a waste of space neither one thing nor the other still high ownership costs. VAG have got it. No wonder the CEO of BMW moved sidesways, no electric vision nor strategy. Yesterday's company. Volvo, VAG leading the way.

Tell us how you really feel lol. One of the biggest car companies on the the planet and an expensive prestige badge who know their buyers better than anyone. All the top manufacturers currently have just one sellable fully electric car (iPace, eTron, eGolf, Zoe, kona, niro, etc) and right now that’s the i3 from bmw - which is around longer than almost any of them and has outsold almost all bar the leaf.bmw aren’t getting “left behind” - they led the prestige manufacturers by years, with the i3. The ipace, eTron and model 3 and €90k+ cars in Ireland.

I agree and the depreciation on a new diesel will be massive....
@beefiron5 жыл бұрын
@@paddydowney6269 Hyundai also have the Ioniq - an underrated EV that gets great mileage out of its 28Kwh battery and has a 40Kwh one coming in the new year. As for BMW, don't forget the Mini. The Electric version is comparable in spec to the Cooper S but will be cheaper - starts at £24,400 in the UK.
@paddydowney62695 жыл бұрын
Micheál Healy that’s true, but again it’s one model per manufacturer.
@paddydowney62695 жыл бұрын
don king it’s unlikely to be more than current level for new cars bought now - only 3% of new cars this year are electric, that’s barely 2500 EVs into a national fleet size well over 2 million. The vast/overwhelming majority of car transactions are 2nd hand and for less than €10k, so the mass market of people have no choice bar combustion engines for the next decade at least.

My wife purchased the X1 2020 from an X1 2017 and the differences are noticeable and positive. We're in the USA and have the 2.0 petrol engine. It accelerates with much less lag than before and handles better all around. I'm 6'2" and agree with the smallish seat. Even 1" wider would have been good. She's only 5'4" and it fits her perfectly. Beautifully built and fun to drive. I only wish U.S. manufacturers could even come close to this, especially at this price point.
