Thanks for the video, i did this repair today and this video was of great help. For anyone thinking to do this repair. You only need to remove the right side and don’t need to clear the light and handles and the belt for middle Seat. This gives just enough room to work with if you approach it a little bit from the side :)

Excellent advice. I just replaced the battery in a 2020 X1 with a panoramic sunroof. Removing just one side was the way to go . No need to touch the dome lights (which are on each side because of the sunroof) or the grab handles. Very hellpful video.

Thanks for the detailed video. I managed to do the repair myself and have a local garage reset the code using the diagnosis tool. One question; the clips on the rear reading light (6:01) - does anyone have the part number? I appear to have lost mine!

Is it essential to disconnect the main battery beforehand to clear the dashboard fault?

Great video. Is it just a case of clearing the fault code when the new battery is fitted? Is there no programming needed?

This has just come up on my car can I just change the battery and not delete the code as I haven’t got a code reader cheers really helpful video👍🏼

You don’t need a code reader. Changing the battery should remove the fault. If not, disconnect the 12v battery for 10 minutes and reconnect. Fault should go away.

I tried to do this, but there was no box where the battery should be in? I have 2017 model. How is this possible? I get the exact same message.

I brought i to a garage and apparently some models dont have the battery system, but you need to change the module or something like that, the dealer asked 2500+ euro so i just bought bimmer code and module for like 100 euros and turned off the option. Ridiculous bmw option. Anyway, you know for sure if you open it. I dont know why some models have it and some dont. @@EvanderGamercoder

Bmw forums.we bought an obd adapter. Bought full bimmercode app. Find Meldung 0299 on menu. Choose Nicht activ, go back and hit Code. Turned off our stupid emergency call message!!!

?? Pas besoin de retirer tout cela juste démonter partiellement les 2 petits cotés triangulaires et ensuite l'arrière du ciel de toit et attache ceinture de sécurité.

WTF BMW? 60€ for the part, 400€ for the labour, not a joke...but here´s the best part: when that fault pops up, you will fail the german roadworthiness test (TÜV), means you are technically not allowed to keep driving without fixing it. Welcome to capitalism...
