2005 x3 2.5i with 245000k miles and going strong. Mostly original parts. Oil changes and basic maintenance and cooling system upkeep and you are good. Looking to make it to 500k miles

I have an 06’ six speed manual and it’s the best vehicle I’ve had. I drove it from NY with 46k to CA in 2020 and now has 63k. Before leaving it was thoroughly checked I did have the ignition coil replaced. The only things that broke down was a window regulator due to rarely being used and windshield washer motor go. These happened within the last five years. I say that’s pretty darn good for its age.

My family has had a 2006 x3 for 10 years now, and its been the only car to have stayed on the roster, it is at 260k miles now and I'm confident it'll reach at least 350k before any major engine/transmission work needs to be done. You take good care of the car and it will take good care of you

Had a 2007 3.0 with 205k and the engine spun a bearing. 3 days later I had another 2007 3.0 sitting in my driveway. I love these cars and they are an absolute bargain

LCI and 3.0N52 FTW driveshafts can bind up and be faulty and pricey to repair. Transfer case and trans can die out of the blue. Oil filter housing, oil pan,Valve cover gaskets and/or valve cover are ALWAYS faulty Replace expansion tank immediately. Axles can cause 4x4 abs dsc lights of doom Evap faults are common (either charcoal canister or breather valve) Rear springs break(good excuse to get lowering springs and new struts!) Happy hunting. Low ball the owner and expect to instantly spend about a $1000 in parts alone… Great car though!

Hi, I put subtitles in several languages in all my guides so you could watch with subtitles on if my voice is particularly hard for you to listen to? Out of interest is is specifically me that you are struggling with or all British accents? and is it just the guides you are struggling with listening to me or is it the same in the videos where I'm driving a vehicle on camera as well? Appreciate the feedback

In nut shell. Avoid 4syl. engines. Buy 6syl. Gas or Dielsel. This main rule is for every BMW made. The swirl flaps on diesel remove them not replace. Every car brakes at some point. So does E83 so its a guessing game every time. Test drive and check the over look inside and out. If it feels right, buy it. The rest is pure luck. Every seller hides something or "forgets" to tell. Some say look for 06/2006-> on automatic transmission. GM 5sp -> ZF 6sp. After oil change I have no problem with GM... Only BMW's for 18 years.

Don't buy the first 3 years of the e83, get the better engine and build quality, go '07 to '10, and there you have bmw'S BEST sav of all time imo, the 2nd gen sucks looks wise.

I disagree with this better quality thing. On the newer they have fixed the old problems but then comes with new ones. For example the M54B30 (03-06) is very desirable engine even today because of its simplicity. The LCI goes from 06/06->. LCI got the ZF auto tranny witch is better than the GM one for many reasons but I got nothing else to complain than in cases with speeds over 100km/h the 6th gear would come in hand. The biggest problem with these transmissions and transfer box are the common believe in forever lasting oil. There is no such thing. My E83 was low milage, 100k miles when I bought it and changed every drop of oil there was anywhere in that thing the first thing I did. GM tranny and transfer works like a clock! I love my 01/06 3.0i M-sport version.

In my opinion there are way too many people owning a BMW who should't! If you want a low maintenance car, for f***s sake don't buy a BMW or any German premium car over all. These are so high tech cars at their building times that they requires extra maintenance at all time. Even cut the service intervals to half. Change transmission fluids within 80k miles / 120k km. I necessary don't point at you. But you get the point. And every manufacturer has their monday versions that you got to suffer it.
