Hey Sub Family, Replacing a leaky Valve Cover Gasket on a BMW engine is easily and I can show you how to do it in a hour Tops, for less than $40 Dollars. & I'm going to show you how to do it, step-by-step. The engine valve cover gasket should last for about 8 to 12 years on your BMW. Over a period of time the gasket becomes brittle and will crack due to exposure to dirt, debris, heat and other elements.

• Plastic putty knife
• Rubber mallet
• Socket/ratchet set
• Torque wrench

Great video! Followed it clip by clip...awesome work. After job is done we can just start the vehicke or wait for silicon gasket to cure... Also, i found that there is hise missing right top side of the intake manifold...what is that hose. Maybe cause of my p0171 and p0174 Greatly appreciated.

The longer you let it sit the better odds you're going to have of it not leaking over time. I recommend waiting 2 days before operating the vehicle. But if you can not wait that long then at least wait 24 hours or overnight. If you drive it within an hour it's guaranteed to start leaking sooner than later. And this process will have to be repeated all over again. Now for the codes P0171 and P0174 on your BMW x3 indicate a lean condition in banks 1 and 2 of your engine, which means the fuel-to-air ratio is imbalanced with too much air or insufficient fuel. I would assume the Hose your talking about would be the Crankcase Breather Hose you will need to buy a replacement part and add that to your Crankcase. That is most likely the reason for the two codes you have stored in the computer. Yes your absolutely correct my friend the BMW X3 E83 has a very reliable Moter that will last many years to come! I know you have probably already completed those tasks you have mentioned to me, but if you have not I recommend you doing one Repair at a time due to changing the value cover gasket on the BMW X3 E83 is very time consuming. It will take you approximately 1-2 hours if done correctly! I have faith that you can complete both repairs if you have not already done so. That's what I'm in the process of now :( make sure you replace all hoses for your pcv valve and don't be surprised if your intake boot is brittle if it isn't already cracked. I was able to do it without taking the intake off, but it's a pain. 2006 X3 m54

Don't forget get to join the Sub Family Community if you already have not my friend(: My 2004 BMW x3 e83 repair was a success as well! And all the Hoses were intact. I didn't have to replace any of them at the time of the repair. Thanks to our lord and savior Yahusha HaMashiach. Also depending on how the previous owner maintained it will depend on whether that stuff will need replaced. & Mileage also plays apart in having to replace all the the hoses on the bmw x3 e83. Mine at the time only had 65k miles on the odometer.

Great question my friend, You do not have to put the Ignition Coils back in the same way they came out. I just prefer to keep them in the same orientation that they came out when I go to reinstall them. I hope this information helps you my dear friend. Godbless you
