In this video we are showing you how to remove the valve cover and replace the valve cover gasket on a BMW X3 equipped with either the 3.0 or the 2.5 engine.
It will not take you more than 30 minutes to 1 hour to do the job and you will save yourself some serious $$$$$.
When the Valve Cover Gasket START LEAKING you will start noticing burning oil smell through the air vents. If it leaks on the oxygen sensor they might get damaged and need replaced which could be very costly so it is good to replace the it as soon as you can.
Make sure that you use goo quality valve cover gasket because otherwise you will be doing the job again.
MAKE SURE that you get the WHOLE KIT with the spark plug holes seals and the bolt seals as well.

Were the bolt grommets included in the valve cover gasket kit or did you buy them separately?

The bolt snapped when tightening the new gasket down. I went to 10nm as I should and it snapped. I've been reading and people are saying the bolts are aluminium and need replacing often.

If the rubber gasket turns into plastic, this tells me there is a problem with the design and manufacturing of the valve cover and the gasket. Why not aluminum valve cover? so, there is no chance of it breaking... Clearly the gasket fails over time. There is a need for a better solution...

Could this the reason be, why the obd scan gave me misfire at cyl. 5 and 6? It's got 148.000 km
