I bought the ribbon from AKSpeedo and just installed today following your video. Now everything works pretty well! Your video was much more helpful than the instruction that came with the ribbon. Thanks a lot!!! Anyway, one thing I would like to leave here is that I used WD-40 to remove the glue from the board, and that worked fine! I sprayed it on a small bowl and applied it using cotton swab. Try it out if you don't have the cleaning solution!

Thank you for posting this video. It is very informative. I already tried to fix my radio by only cleaning the ribbon, but it did not work, so I may try it this way. BMW offered me 50% off part, not labor to replace the instrument cluster screen.

I am interested in fixing my ribbon however, when i disconnected by MID cable today and connected it back the display showed nothing. simply the radio played for 1 minute then turns off. i checked the fuses. any idea whats going on?

I can not see the side where you put the lcd ribon. It is in front of or behind the lcd

This did not work for me. The company I bought the cable from is saying that I have to use a "T" tip for the soldering gun to apply the ribbon cable, which is not what these instructions say to do. Maybe my cable is different. All I know is it doesn't work and I'm pissed. I also used acetone to clean off the connections on the LCD which is prob why it doesn't work. After viewing the #2 video the printed directions he has says don't put liquid on the LCD screen THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL IF HE WOULD HAVE MENTIONED THAT !!! OH well.
