Excellent X5 oil change video. Everything is exactly as shown in this video. I followed every step, even used same zip tie to tie the expansion tank. The filter is at an awkward position, not as easy to reach as previous model but still easy enough. Thank you for showing us how to do it! And BTW, it's way faster doing it yourself, less than 30 minutes. I hate to wait hours at dealership for a simple job like this.

Great video, very well done. Gave me everything I needed to know to do the oil change in the X5 and reset the reminder code, thanks! I will caution though if you are planning to jack the car up AND you raise the air suspension all the way, the reach to the filter is quite a stretch - I’m 6’2” with a pretty long reach and I used all of it. Maybe don’t raise the suspension if you’re going to jack it up anyway.

@@BIGJBIGEBIGCI would have the dealer do the included recommended services while the vehicle is under lease but I would also do my own oil changes between. I strongly believe in oil changes every 8,000kms and this is very easy on this model. Not worth anywhere near what the stealership charges

I don’t think you are reading the oil fill level gauge correctly. In the video you had it to the “full” line and then added more oil hence overfilling it. I believe it’s designed that the top section is supposed to be “empty”. What does the oil fill display look like after you add the additional oil?

How often do you recommend to change the oil on a new X6 ?

Is it okay to do it by ourselves!..no need to do it from the BMW service, car warranty, resale etc...wll not be effected?..

Absolutely, service does not have to be done at the dealer for the car warranty to be valid.

Can you see the difference between X series assembled in US vs other bmw assembled in Germany?
@SimpleCarGuy Жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed any difference so far. This is my first SUV from BMW, so I can only compare it to the 550i I had and the quality seems to be the same. No squeaks or funny noises or anything like that.

Where did you jack up the car? Is there a center jack point clearly marked underneath?
@SimpleCarGuy Жыл бұрын
There is a center Jack point under the engine. I don’t know if it’s marked, but it’s the only thing that’s not covered by a plastic shield there. It’s common on many BMWs.

Unfortunately all cars are this way now. BMW engines have been looking like this since the mid 2000s, there were some initial growing pains but they've figured out what works and what doesn't at this point.

@@d47000 It's amazing to me at times the number of late model cars after that mid 2000's period that have already been scrapped. These car's aren't going to be around for long. It's unfortunate. It'll be alright you guys freaking out over nothing, b58 proven to be reliable, extension tanks being plastic nothing new, valve cover nothing new, it breaks.. fix it. This shouldn't bother anyone who's looking to buy a almost 6 figure car. See the pros instead of cons, these engines are so much lighter now than it was in the 90s, cheaper parts, easier to probably produce these parts. The old bmw m52 for example weighed 500lbs the B58 with even slightly bigger displacement, and turbos only weighs 306lbs. Making these cars drive the way they do. Trust me I love older engines and cars more than new but this the way and it aint going back.
