I am amazed that a channel of such quality, and a boatbuild that is so well thought out and executed has the subscription base as low as it has. In my view, and I follow many channels, this is one of the more useful ones. You go into such thoughtful detail about the little things, without getting nerdy. It is such a useful resource for anyone considering a steel boat build/rebuild.

I tend to agree with the observation but it's likely due to too much narration versus actual work

@@Chris-NZ I agree. There are a couple of channels on your list that I’m unaware of…..but I’ll rectify that soon enough. I really like Duracell project, Tally Ho, and Ran. Brupeg is a bit too industrial for me but I watch occasionally anyway.

I have enjoyed watching you meticulously fabricate a fit your amazing panels - I am also pleased you are nearing the end of them as each time you make another one I am brutally reminded that mine could "Do Better!". Great progress Bruce. Remember to brace, brace and brace again as a Bruce sized sailor will bounce around quite hard when it gets a bit popply. Thanks for sharing Mate.

Simple solutions are the most elegant. A few small access pockets into the berth end of the shelves could be handy for specs or a head torch too. Thanks for sharing. Going to use this as a basis for my own project thanks again Bruce.

You could put the hanging rail on the top as planned and then say two shelves below but make then so they fold down or up so if you or your crew have a number of hanging items you can leave the shelves down and use the space for hanging.

Really good job. Why not making the cabinets a bit deeper?
@BuildingSYMistress Жыл бұрын
Thanks Pers, appreciated and re. your question, there are several good reasons for this design: for eg. the upper aft space is deeper than my arm already, consideration had to be made in order to be able to remove the cabin sole panels, aesthetically I don't want cabin spaces to be all closed in and as always in boats, compromises MUST be made 🙂👍🏻

Hey mate can I ask a question how do u know there not a little pin hole leak in the hull before u put it in the water did u fill the boat up with water after doing the hull kinda like The reverse of testing
@BuildingSYMistress Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your good question Joshua, there are 3 measures taken that make me 100% sure that there are not even any pin holes to Mistress' hull, never mind worse: 1)I was/am a meticulous welder when it came to particularly the hull welds; 2)all of the hull plate chines (seams) are fully welded on the outside and the inside and 3)there are X3 coats of high build epoxy paint system covering all of the steel 🙂👍🏻

As one who has lived on a small boat for years, some thoughts. I love your 'dirty' clothes bin idea, except that your idea of size is way off. I needs to be as big as you can make it. Hint: throw a T shirt and a pair of shorts into a shoe box; Then try to add anything more! Your hanging locker idea is also too small. Hint: hang two cotton button-up shirts in a tall carboard box for a week, outside, under cover, then check for mildew smell. You must have air flow around clothes that hang up.
@BuildingSYMistress Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments Gary, appreciated and fyi if we say that a shoe box is ~2 litres of space, the lower space in these cabinets are ~100 litres and re. the hanging spaces 1)as explained in this video and through cruising experience, I will have very few items needing hanging up, 2)these will be vented, 3)most boats of Mistress' size and particularly production built ones, have smaller and unvented cabinets and 4)actually ideally all clothes would have air flow around them, which of course is impossible, especially on a boat 🙂👍🏻
