Tommy Haas was a light version of Roger Federer. He could do it all but his shoulder denied him several Major titles. I remember a few comebacks of him, it took him just a few weeks to be back in the top 10. What a talent he was, what a fighter, he doesn´t get enough credit for that.

Loved Jim Courier's comment. "A very un-handsome man". I'm as straight as an arrow, but I can comfortably say that he was definitely the best looking guy on the men's tour. Shame he never won a Slam.

My favourite tennis player of all time. Absolute Legend. Grew up to so many fantastic matches and memories and happy to seen you live at Wimbledon a couple of times. Supported you v every opponent you faced. Keep the hard work up as tournament director and all the best for the future to you and your family x

Natural talent with a smooth, beautiful game, he had the package to do big things, but injuries really compromised his potential's career... Still a great player with few big wins, he'll be missed...

Bravissimo tennista, Tommy Haas, ma molto sfortunato per i suoi tanti infortuni che ne hanno pesantemente condizionato la carriera.

He was good enough to win a major during that period before fed. Injuries weren’t kind to him.

He always talked and lived big, without accomplishing a big title. His luxurious lifestyle and the fact that he turned his back on his home country made him an antipathetic guy. Period.

Good not great player. Ego maniac and one of the biggest brats while on the court. Came off as an absolute tool. Why show him driving a Porsche? Of course, it has to be the tournament he "works and manages" that has to show his "retirement". Good player but there were many more well deserving authentic players who never got this level of worship.

You obviously don't know much about tennis mate
@tommymas16 жыл бұрын
Henry Stradling I'm sure I have played more matches, watched more matches and know more about tennis than you, mate. Instead of commenting about something you don't know about, how about responding to my comment if you have something intelligent to add, "mate"?
@henrystradling84856 жыл бұрын
Okay it's not a competition for who knows more about what etc, I'm sure you know a lot too. You have to be a pretty great player to achieve world number 2 and coming back from injuries several times to regain a good ranking on each comeback. I won't put him with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic. He fits more in the category of Davydenko, Nalbandian, Ferrer. You know, not absolutely amazing players, but great players. "Good" would be someone like a 2016 Hewitt.

Henry Stradling A much better reply mate. I did say in my comment thst he is a good player, maybe even very good. I will agree with you about the group you put him in. But the main points about my original comment are about Tommy Haas the man and his character. He is, by many counts, a narcissistic egomaniac that treated others rudely. On court, he would yell at his camp constantly, at spectators and have tamper tantrums. Yes, he deserves credit for constantly coming back from injuries but personality wise, he was a tool and not very nice. Everyone talks about his "good looks", like that should matter for character. I would rather see a ceremony for someone like Davydenko than Haas.

There's a difference when you are showing your frustrations on court. I've played many tennis tournaments and I've lost it a few times on court, I would shout at my coach to ease frustration, it's never anything personal and you should know this. Most players on the tour do that. I also don't think someone's personality should hinder their legacy in a sport (except if you are as bad as Tomic, that's a different topic).

Daniel Block Was ist es mit Deutschland und den Hass für seine besten Tennisspieler? Becker will jetzt lieber Engländer sein, Haas ein Ami, nur Stich kommt irgendwie ungeschoren davon.
