A more in depth review on the Cub Cadet XT1 plowing snow with the MTD 46'' snow blade. I am sorry about the double speed in the video when I back up the tractor but due to iMovie I can only upload a 15 minute video so I had to compress it somewhere. Please like and subscribe.

Pro Tip: Before raising the plow, always back up an inch to allow the blade to clear the snow you just pushed. Failure to do so will lead to the bending and elongation of the pin mechanism that attaches the handle to the "frame" of the plow. Eventually you will be unable to raise the plow at all, even using the handle.

Thanks for the Video. Living out in the sticks I have 3 driveways and over the years I used snowblowers to clear them. Getting older now and Kids are gone, I bought a plow for the Cub. After watching this I'm sure it will get a lot for use for the average 6-8 in snows.

you can fab up a release for the angle on the plow using rope and a pulley. simply pull the release and use the snow to angle the blade in the direction you need. once you get the real cub up and running, look for a plow. i have seen them as cheap as 50 dollars during the summer.

I bought a plow from Sears seven years ago for a 2000 Murray 48” which goes up and down and the front angle is controlled from the driver seat. No getting off all the time and you can push the snow in the opposite direction on your way back by just turning around after each pass. Turns out to be very efficient and effective.

BNSFGP38 had to add rear chains in heavier snow. When pushing wet heavy snow I discovered front chains are needed also but needed to get the snow off early. Once that snow piled up the tractor and blade combo could only push it to fifteen ft before the weight of it stopped it in it’s tracks and tire spinning even with chains on. I plow going straight up the middle on the 75ft driveway with the blade facing out to the right, then from there pushing the snow to either side without moving the blade. Then whatever I can’t push any more I angle push it to the side if needed.

I bought the 3 stage snow blower for my XT1, probably never will snow again now HAHA!!! I was thinking of getting the 46" All Season Blade that you can angle the blade from the operate seat to use to grade my gravel driveway and plow snow with, although I'm going to try with the snow blower first, they say to lower the skid shoes as far as they will go so you don't scrape up a bunch of rocks, so time will tell LOL. Those cotter pins are meant to break, like a shear pin on a snow blower auger assembly. They are made to break before you break the expensive components.

My craftsman plow is 42 inches and it had a brake line and a axle kind of thing so I put the axle on the hole in the top of the blade and added it to the hole in the handle so when I pull the brake line at the handle it pulls on the spring so I can adjust it from my seat

I have a XT1 and plow snow with no problems. I put chains on it that are available at Tractor Supply and I made them fit tight with plastic ties used to bundle wires. I tried to take off my deck but there was one connection not shown on the videos and I couldn't get it off so I did the next best thing. I have the 42 inch cut so the deck is not as wide as the snow plow and I plow with the deck on and the plastic discharge shoot held back by bungie cord. Just crank the deck up high and drill a hole in the plastic discharge shoot to connect a bungie cord and all will be well. This tractor can push a good amount of snow and I have a large driveway.

I have a 2019 Cub Cadet xt2, My tractors before were NOT Cub's (sorry to say)They were Craftsman's all but the last new one a 2014 Craftsman were pretty good. That one was made by Huskvarna (Not Good) Anyway I got a new snow plow when I got it, you could change the blade angle from the seat. The Cub Cadet isn't like that. When I sold the Craftsman tractor I did not sell the snow blade. The new and old blades were sitting side by side in the driveway. The first thing I see is they are pretty much the same. So in about 30 minutes I changed a few parts (very easy) Now I can change the blade angle from the seat. I'm in Michigan so it does get used . I have plowed snow a few times this year work's great same as with the Craftsman tractor. Don't have to get up till i'm done now. I was looking at ways to fix that problem, Only needed a couple parts from the Craftsman, the stuff from the craftsman fit perfectly. The top half of the handle and a pin that it attaches to by the blade.

I know this is a late reply, but, whatever. The regular ( forward only,) and Reverse (forward+reverse,) modes on the ignition, control whether the PTO for the mower or snowblower (or whatever,) is active (running,) when in forward motion or is active in forward and reverse motion, respectively. Hope that makes sense. Forward and reverse motion are independent of the mode the ignition switch is in and is controlled by the foot pedal as stated by William Todd above.

I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

The only thing i've done to it is changed the battery once and i've changed the oil a couple times and i've gone through a couple set of blades, and put air in the tires. I know i should probably change the oil every year but im just telling ya. I've changed it like twice in 13 years. I just add to it if needed. I don't plow with mine but it mows about 2 -1/2 acres every week. I was thinking about getting a snowblower for it but they're like $1300. That's almost as much as i paid for the tractor. And i read a lot of reviews on it, they weren't good for that model. But as far as my 2007 LT1050 Cub Cadet, i couldn't ask for a more durable mower. What more could you ask for? you guys are too cute I had an automatic Craftsman with an 18 horse Kohler engine wheel weights chains and an extra 40 lb in the back that's an extra hundred pounds in the rear I took off all of that crap Craftsman put on their plows as do everybody else on the bottom of the plow I added a 6 inch wide 3/8 inch thick cutting blade the length of the plow I split the difference so it raise my plow height by 3 in and added a lot more weight I made the mount for the plow rigid so it would not flop over or turn side to side and as far as up and down I remove the cutting table and used the lever that raises and lowers the cutting table to raise and lower the plow it took a little figuring but I really didn't have 2 refabricat anything. and as far as transmissions on these automatics I added and I weighedit a fully loaded double-bagger system with wet grass hanging off the back of a Craftsman lawn mower especially when you pack it down because you don't want to empty it after every pass well I've had 75 lb in my bags on a regular basis. plastic buckets going uphill these Transmissions are awesome of course club cadet and many other brands Don't Come Close but at the end of the day those are real wheels are driven from a shaft coming out of the bottom of that engine the only thing connecting that engine to that pulley that operates that awesome transmission is a half inch 3 foot long V belt compression pulley that is operated by the foot pedal they call it a clutch and brake pedal in one make a long story longer I added a 120 lb to the rear of my Craftsman and 75 lb to the factory blade I jammed it in forward and reverse as quick as I could move that lever uphill on a 30-degree grade pushing 6 in of snow man I wish I had videos it was trial and error and all together I probably spent between design and refabrication conservatively 24 hours this thing would go through a 32 inch high 3 ft wide plow pack at the end of my driveway at half throttle that's another point I never had to run this thing wide open unless I was cutting grass and for plowing you can't not remove the cutting table that's just ridiculous these guys are pushing 3 in of snow on a flat driveway LMAO I ran that 5 years like that up and down my driveway the only thing I changed was the oil and plugs damn I wish I had videos good luck keep smiling

It is worth spending a extra $100 so you do not have to get out to move the blade left and right

you want to know how to angle your plow from the driver's position that big round thing you've got your hand on you don't need to angle the plow with a steering radius of a lawn mower I mean really

That dumb handel is ridiculous. Get a real tractor like a John Deere X738 with hydraulic pto front and rear hitch so you can simply move a lever to move your implements. Cub Cadet needs to step up their game. Plus the transmission and axles on the JD 738 would eat that cub alive!

Ha! How many thousand is that Deere? Sure it's tougher as expected for the money it costs. I have a Kubota L2900 compact tractor with a loader bucket. My 1st Cub Cadet LT1042 still goes but the transaxle is weak. I bought a new Cub XT2 for mowing and pulling a large leaf vacuum by Swisher. The little 1042 did that job for 16 years. I got my money's worth out of that.
