I fucking love when movies and series showcase people realistically being dry, instead of being shocked, melodramatic or having a problem coming up with a solution that an average viewer came up. Din just saying in an extremely dry manner "I yield" (and of course the actor delivering the line in such a way) conveyed everything you needed to know, which was "I don't want it, just fucking take and be done with this nonsense". Like he truly didn't give a flying fuck about it and the show didn't try to be unnecessarily melodramatic about it.

I thought it made perfect sense. Bo-Katan is dishonoured currently. She lost the saber to the Empire and was Mandalore when they got destroyed by the Empire and lost their planet. In the eyes of the other Mandalorians she is a failed leader. Her only path to ruling again is to prove, unequivically that she is the biggest badass around and has no rival. She needed to win the Dark Saber back from the Empire. She didn't. She didn't even manage to track down Gideon, Din did which makes her look even more questionable as a leader at this point. Mandalorians only respect strength and the Mandalore has to be the strongest and best around. Also... the Dark Saber legacy technically began with Sabine giving it to Bo, since Sabine apparently had no interest in ruling. Back then Bo was a well loved and highly respected Mandalorian who people wanted to rule, the sword was just... extra confirmation. That doesn't work anymore now. While the sword is a relatively new lore concept, the basic idea isn't. It used to be the Helm of Mandalore that confirmed leadership and it worked very much the same way, you took it of the coprse of the old Mandalore and killed anyone who didn't accept your rule. Its why it can go so long without a Mandalore since you have to be the best of the best and unite the Clans. Din is not only a Mandalorian but he is renown fighter with arguably a better candidacy to rule than Bo now, since he would be welcomed to rule by the Watch as well as other Mandalorians. If she just accepted the Saber, she would have no answer to any other Clan's who just asked... "Why shouldn't we follow Din instead of you?"

"In order for her to wield the Darksaber AGAIN..." "Again" is the key word. While she could accept it the first time with a sense of honor, she simply cannot a second time. Losing it to Gideon, and the Purge happening means she has to prove she is worthy to wield it again. Simple as that. Imagine King Arthur is given Excalibur and chosen to rule. Then later, he loses it in battle and Camelot is destroyed. He is seen as a failure. He wanders in exile. Why, then, would another knight reclaiming Excalibur and returning it to him automatically make the people respect Arthur again? It's a huge stain on her honor to have lost it. For it to be given back would not look good on her character. To the other Mandalorians she needs to prove she's worthy to reclaim it. It's not so much a case of there being one rule for how it must always happen. It's a case of honor and reputation in her specific current situation. Gideon knows a lot about Mandalorian tradition and knows this is all about image.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see it. In my mind, Sabine never really earned it, so Bo Katan could happily take it since nobody else had any real claim to it (assuming she doesn't class Maul as a valid ruler of Mandalore). In contrast, in S2E8, Din won the saber in combat from Giddeon. The fact that Din won it instead of finding it means he has a geniune claim to it. I totally agree with your point about the whole honour side of things too. By losing it to Giddeon in the first place she has lost her right to be a ruler. If she wants to lead Mandalore again, she has to earn that privilege in combat.

I feel that she can’t accept it this time because it’s not an honourable event. Last time she had just helped do an amazing thing for Mandalore and there was a unanimous respect for her and handing her the blade. This time there are only two mandalorians there and while they honour her, other mandalorians haven’t given their blessing, and also while she did help take down an imperial cruiser she did very little of the hard work as she only really killed some stormtroopers.

I have the exact same feeling-the other Mandalorians both respected her contribution to helping unite Mandalore and unanimously chose her. But since she obviously lost the saber to Gideon, it's not like she can just go back to the way things were before. She has to earn it now, because the clans DIDN'T vote to have her lead them and she did in fact lose it at some point, either in war or in a personal combat situation (I'm more inclined to believe Gideon took it off of her unconscious body during the Siege when both of them were leading forces against the other. Bo got knocked out and Gideon likely either assumed she was dead and took it from her directly or it was separated from her and she couldn't get it back, and he found and took it. War is still combat, so I could see her losing it in a large battle due to his strategies as still being a valid reason to lose it and her right to wield it).

or maybe the last time she was just handed the darksaber there were those who called her our for being a pretender to the throne and undermined her legitimacy as a leader. I honestly imagined she could accept it from Sabine since she never recognized Maul as the Mandalore because he was an outsider. So in her eyes, once pre vizsla was killed by an outside, a Mandalorain could claim it. Sabine just happened to be the person who returned it to Mandalore. But in the context of the show, she as the Mandalore lost the Saber, which was then won by a Mandalorain, so by her own rules Din has claim.

My theory is that she doesn’t WANT to gain the saber illegitimately a second time. Once was already bad enough in her eyes. She wants to gain it the proper way. If Din and Bo fight, something is going to have to happen to actually make Din want the saber and actively compete for it. Otherwise it wouldn’t really be a real fight if he had no desire to win and I imagine that would invalidate the “victory”.

Here's my take: In Rebels Bo initially declines the saber because she knows it is morally incorrect and would not truly be able to claim it for her own. However, at the end of the arc she realises just how vitally Mandalore needs a ruler to combat the empire. So she takes it, acting as ruler for the time being and nobody objects because they know it is necessary. However, in The Mandalorian, the empire is mostly defeated and you can tell by how much she wants to kill Gideon that she wants to properly become ruler of mandalore as she wasn't able to before but now she has the chance. And when Gideon objects to her taking it from Din using the Mandalorian law, she knows he is right and wouldn't be able to claim leadership without betraying everything Mandalore is.

It’s a lot more simple. In rebels, Sabine never won it. She found it in mauls place after he had all but abandoned it....with maul having basically abandoned it, all clans supported bo taking it and wanted her to lead mandalore....now, mando actually won it through combat. Alternatively, if the Mand'alor was defeated in combat by another mandalorian the helmet would be taken as a trophy. Also, we know that the same helmet was never passed down throughout the ages because the original mandalorians were a different species with a very different head shape. It’s possible she couldn’t gather all the Mandalorian clans before when she wielded the Darksaber previously because of how it was obtained: by way of gift, rather than trial of combat Perhaps other Mandalorians, familiar with her time as a dishonorable member of Deathwatch, chose to not stand with her, claiming her earning the weapon proved nothing and her less than sparkly background as a traitor to her people to be not what the other Mandalorians would follow Remember, Bo brought the Republic Clone Army to Mandalore to usurp the throne. She spat on Maul’s claim as leader, even though he won the Darksaber by the correct means of combat challenging. She worked to have the Duchess Satine, her own blood, imprisoned and turned against her until she decided the person she secondhandedly put into power, Maul, pushed off of Mandalore. She brought on martial law to the people of Mandalore during the Republic, soon to be Empire, occupation and may even be seen as a connecting reason why the planet is largely believed to have been destroyed We, the audience, know her to be on the right path. Theory: Gideon goaded Bo Katan into Combat, knowing the illegitimacy of her ownership of the Darksaber. Bo Katan, essentially never had the "Eye of the Tiger" with Gideon... She knew she didn't "earn it" the first time, which is why she looks so shocked to see Din Djarin with the Darksaber. She WANTED to meet Gideon in combat on the bridge, with him having the Darksaber. She wanted it so badly, she could practically taste it. and then everything in that scenario changed Which was: 1) To get revenge on Gideon for what the Empire (and thus Gideon - where he came to claim the saber originally) did to Mandalore. 2) To truly "earn it", against a foe in Gideon (whom I'm sure beat her fair and square, and then likely rubbed her face in it in a very public and shameful fashion). 3) More personally having the two newest Mamdalorians she's met, Boba and Din yield to her leadership. She acts like her crap smells like Roses, as if every Mandalorian is supposed to know or care about the legend of the Darksaber. So essentially, she'll throw down with Din to get the Darksaber, but she is reluctant because she WANTS her opponent to be Gideon. And since Gideon doesn't have the saber, she can't "have" any of her 3 motivating factors. She essentially lost the war of expectations within herself. Taking the Darksaber would be essentially admitting to herself that she cannot ever have revenge. She isn't strong enough (rather her character isn't developed well enough) to accept the victory for what it is.

Yeah it does, she was a failure as Mandalore. The planet was scorched on her watch and Moff Gideon took it from her or somehow ended up with it, thus her honor as a Mando was under question. She was GIVEN the Darksaber by Sabine who herself merely stole it. Bo wouldn't submit to the Empire which made her stock and respect rise, but all that came crashing down with what the Imps did to Mandalore. She had to EARN it back which she did not. Din is the rightful Mandalore now.
@emmamoles74524 жыл бұрын
Sabine stole it yes, but she also earned it. You forget when she had to go back to her ancestral home and try to recruit other mandalorians to her cause, gar Saxon eventually stole it, so Sabine had to win it back therefore making her its rightful owner. She then gave it to bo Katan after learning that she was the rightful heir to the throne and how loyal she was to mandalore. So if we look at bos commitment to liberating mandalore instead of “the claim to the dark saber makes you the rightful ruler of mandalore” statement, then bo is the best ruler for mandalore-din couldn’t care less about mandalores past much less the throne. Also, the dark saber had been passed down in clan vizla for generation to generation, and din is not apart of clan vizla, so mandalorians could also see that as a violation and the more reason for bo to take the saber back.
@marcoslaureano55624 жыл бұрын
@@emmamoles7452 I respect your pov but I disagree wholeheartedly on Bo being worthy. It was apparent to me as a viewer that ALL she cared about was getting the throne. If you read Karen Traviss SW books (the creator of Mando culture), this alone would have made her unworthy. She wasn't interested in helping another Mando in need (without personal gain) which should have been paramount according to actual Mando law. Mandos don't choose to NOT help other Mandos in need. She didn't care about Grogu (who was technically a foundling), Din (unless he was helping her cause) or anyone else for that matter - her only aim was to claim power for herself. Din only cared about Grogu's life - which in my eyes makes him a much more worthy Mandalore than Bo. And law is law - the Darksaber must be won in combat. Din did that, not Bo. In the eyes of any true Mando, he was worthy, she wasn't. Especially not after letting Mandalore get glassed and allowing the Darksaber to fall into Moff Gideon's hands. Just my two cents.
@emmamoles74524 жыл бұрын
@@marcoslaureano5562 I respect your opinion, though I feel, after watching clone wars and rebels, that bo does care about mandalore. She’s not that person to just fight consistently for power. When she met din for the first time she called him brother, which there just shows how much she cares for other mandalorians. She saw din in trouble on that ferry and wanted to help him, so I don’t really see how she does stuff for personal gain because how could she mutually benefit from that situation. The only reason she fights so hard for the dark saber is for mandalore, and for people to see she was as worthy as her sister. In rebels she is discouraged because people held her to the height of satine, she even showed those feelings when she said, “I am not my sister.” Sabine gave her the dark saber because she thought bo was a capable leader, and ahsoka made her mandalores regent thinking the same thing, so maybe she just wants validation by the dark saber and to not let mandalore down. In the beginning of season four of rebels, she did not take the dark saber initially when Sabine first met her, because she felt guilty. Yet she still fought against the empire to liberate her home. She also in clone wars refused to follow maul because he was an outsider, a murderer and a criminal. Then she expressed to Obi wan how maul is destroying mandalore, when she went to ask for their help, how he murdered her sister in cold blood and badly influencing her people. Also if we want to talk abt storyline and development, how could Dave make up this courageous leader, who once ruled mandalore, then fell into guilt once the empire rose into power, and the once again ruled mandalore with challenge. If there was no resistance to her rule, her character would not be as realistic. And if din just took her place, that would be a waste of a good character.

@@emmamoles7452 I hear you. But the glaring problem with that argument - if SHE felt that were true, she would have taken the Darksaber, but she KNEW she couldn't. That no Mandalorian would respect her rule. I don't really pay too much attention to the Mandalorians from Clone Wars, they're an aberration to me(just my opinion), since in reality there are no true "heads of state, or kings or princesses or any of those other common tropes. The Mandalorians in this series, and their culture, seem to be based much more on Karen Traviss Mandalorian novels, she created their culture and language. And according to unwritten Mandalorian law, Din is Mandalore now. And what's even more striking to me is that in that Legends lore(which seems to slowly becoming canon), the most worthy to be Mandalore is usually the warrior (male or female) who DOESN'T want to be Mandalore. This is most definitely the case with Din. Thx for the back and forth though btw, I love discussing SW with other fans, especially when we have opposing views, it's more fun. I love to hear other fans point of views, sometimes it even changes my view so thx. Btw do you think we'll get to see Sabine next season, especially with Ahsoka now being a part of the show? Recent dark saber history: Sabine plucked it off the ground. She is not a worthy wielder. Then Sabine fought someone for possession of it In one on one combat and won, making her worthy. Bo was not worthy, so she refused. Then the clans rallied on her and she was worthy of ruling, and accepted the symbolic blade to boot. Wishy washy here, but Gideon takes the dark saber and purges mandalore, proving that Bo was not a strong enough leader to save her people and not strong enough a warrior to keep the blade. She is no longer worthy. Now Din has reclaimed the blade for the mandalorians in one on one combat, making him worthy by rule of that combat ritual. Bo however no longer has any claim whatsoever to being worthy of the dark saber because of her failings. Theory you forget that Bo Katan was ruler of Madalore during the infamous “Night of a thousand tears” in which the Empire sacked Mandalore and scorched it’s surface and turned it into glass. The dark saber was probably taken from her during that event or she may have lost it later in another conflict either way she failed as ruler of Mandalore so therefore in her quest to regain the dark saber she simply can’t just have it handed to her without winning it through one on one combat or she would be viewed as a false ruler and her rule would be disputed. It’s all very Arthurian when you think about it. My theory: competing legitimate claims is what necessitates the trial by combat. Context below. I went back to watch the scene in Rebels where Bo accepts the Dark Saber. She had just lead a successful assault on the Imperial weapons facility and a bunch of clans directly acknowledged her right to lead. Contrast to the current situation. Mandalore glassed, presumably while Bo was ruler -- that could not have earned her much support. They successfully capture the Imperial cruiser, but only 1 other Mandalorian that cares is present. So while Bo did not gain the saber in a trial by combat the first time, she did earn it in a sense. And we can infer that when she lost it, it was also accompanied by a massive military defeat and destruction of her home planet. So the "story that has power" isn't about earning the right to the saber in a trial by combat, it's about earning the right to lead in general, and in this particular case presumably about doing so by avenging the destruction of the planet by defeating Gideon. In that case, Bo and Din have legitimate competing claims -- she has experience and actually cares whereas he is the hero that took down Gideon. That leads me to conclude that competing legitimate claims is what necessitates the trial by combat. Think also of the Satine/Viszla/Maul situation. Satine never held the Dark Saber when she ruled. Later Death Watch convinced the public of a story that she was incompetent with some Dark Saber thrown in for good measure. Then Maul challenges Viszla. Do you think Death Watch would have allowed some rando to make that challenge? Hell no. It's only because Maul was absolutely instrumental in them taking over and they see that, hence his claim had as much weight as Viszla's. The point is her taking it in rebels is what makes no sense, according to their traditions and superstitions, there's an obvious story missing in the middle here (one of course they'll hash out at some point), the Story that probably involves her regrets for taking the sword improperly and as a result why she subsequently lost it, whatever that story is it will likely involve her personal loss of mandalore and possibly the death of Sabine Wren, and her coming to terms with the notion that because she did not take the sword legitimately, that its legacy was then from her point of view, cursed

His story arc is going onto its rise now, he’s let go of his attachments (Grogu) and is now going to fight for the greater good of the galaxy. He wields the story of the Dark Saber and the power that comes with it. When I put these two stories next to each other, the first story is about an unworthy pretender. The second would be a story about an unworthy pretender who basically robbed the rightful wielder for her personal selfish reason, while the rightful wielder won the darksaber in a fight he fought for selfless reason. The difference is so obvious.

Exactly, she was handed it the first time, and the mandalorians were nearly wiped out with the Imperials taking the saber almost as a trophy. Now we’re gonna hand it to her again? It's quite simple to figure out, if you're willing to put yourself in the character's head. Think about it. As a consequence of The Purge of Mandalore occuring under Bo's leadership, she failed her people and her planet to a ridiculous degree. She no doubt looks back on being gifted the Saber from Sabine as some huge blunder, and wishes for nothing more than to defeat Gideon herself and truly earn back the Darksaber he almost certainly stole from her. She probably sees besting him as the only way to not only avenge her people and home, but also as the only way to restore her own pride and honor. That's why she seems so incredibly pissed at Din. Having defeated Gideon, he cost Bo her one shot at redemption.

Sabine wren defended her claim or earned her claim in front of clan wren when she defeated Gar Saxon. Prior to the fight her mother said she had no claim because she didn’t take it from Maul. To which Sabine said I have it dont I. I guess the abandonment rule plus she ended up defending her claim from Gar. Then 6 clans said they would stand behind Bo Katan saying they wanted her to take it. Majority rules voted into power? Now Din Djarin has won it in battle and his claim seems to be valid just because he earned it from Moff Gideon. I mean how else could anyone earn it? By going back to Maul and saying fight me? Nope he’s dead. Going to Darth Sidious and saying fight me. Nope he’s dead. Going to Darth Vader and saying fight me? Nope he’s dead. I think as long as it is won in battle there is no other way to track down who has “True” claim to the Darksaber. Din vs Sabine because she may be the only other one who has claim that was won in battle? That is if Moff Gideon didn’t win it in battle or at some point defend his claim to it. Anyone can challenge Din to cement his claim or for them to win claim in battle. Bo or anyone can challenge. It was originally a symbol of the leader of house Vizsla and later the group Death Watch. This is different, with Moff Gideon stating outright that people would KNOW it wasn't earned by her, and that she had no claim. It was getting to her, you could tell. Bo Katan Theory: Perhaps Bo Katan’s revolt on Mandalore against Clan Saxon failed because news was spread of her never winning the Dark Saber in a duel and led enough powerful Mandalorian traditionalists to not follow her . This might also be why Death Watch & the Children of the Watch consider Mandalore “destroyed” and we only see her with at most 2 followers. A false ruler tried to take the throne and let it remain in despotic hands (maybe true Imperial rule via Gideon winning the saber and ousting Clan Saxon), causing the majority of Mandalore to not support her. She might want to earn the Saber fair and square to appease the traditionalists and truly revive Mandalore, making up for her terrible mistake. (Potential Season 3 plot/sub-plot/reveal) Sidenote: This could also be an explanation for why Gideon chose to face Din, how he arrogantly revealed the meaning behind the Dark Saber, and taunted Bo Katan of not being the rightful ruler if she took Din’s offer (although it could still be the case that he knew because he defeated her and/or studied Mandalorian culture)

I am dumb as they come and when people like me start poking holes in the plot contrivance because it barely has a leg to stand on and fall over easy, it not a very good written plot. They are doing really good, but need to be careful and not screw it up and get sloppy like the last 5 Star Wars movies. How did you feel when the bought Palpatine back with barely no back story. He just showed up and said I'm here, so Rey can kick my ass and look like a hero.

I think Bo took it in rebels only because the situation called for her to take charge, the planet of Mandalore was completely occupied by the empire and the threat they posed was more immediate. Now I think she knows that there are too many divided factions of Mandalorians spread throughout the galaxy and they won’t all be eager to reunite under her rule, so she needs to acquire the dark saber in the most epic and by the book way as possible to impress all the factions.
@Spectralyzed4 жыл бұрын
Also, she was actually pretty reluctant to take it in the first place, but then the rest of the clans confirmed that they were behind her, so she took it.
@dylanp57674 жыл бұрын
The way I see it, it makes total sense why she simply doesn’t take it. For one, she likely doesn’t see any honor in simply just taking it by default again. Secondly, like Gideon says, the saber has no power, but the story does. Where’s the power and honor in a story where you were simply given by the saber through no honorable battle once, losing it, and being given it again? Nowhere, because there is none. Imagine being declared the winner and champion of a boxing match before the fight begins, simply because your opponent doesn’t want to fight you and yields . Like sure, you’re the winner, but there’s no power in that. And taking the saber again, through no honorable battle, let alone after losing it, has no power. Like Gideon says again, she is a pretender to the throne if she simply takes it there.

I think the major difference is the Purge... whatever happened finally broke them. Mandalorians have been through a lot, and they are tough but they are just "human" and whatever happened during the purge was something many of them couldn't recover from. There is no hope, and the vast majority of Mandalorians are dead or scattered and the only ones remaining true to Mandalore are a cult or ex-terrorists. They had a desire before, they had fight in them. This time, Bo needs something drastic to for her people to rally behind. A story, a symbol... they need some hope. They need to know they won't be throwing their lives away for a glass ball and a black sword. She knows this. She has been trying to recruit for years, trying to find anyone to listen and most of them are probably like Din (Moved on, no interest in mandalore) or Boba (believe the world is dead an pointless) or frog lady.. moved on a started lives they refuse to leave. It's been years and we've seen Bo has one small ship and two Mandos... it's not going well. The rules don't exist, they aren't laws of the universe... it's just about what will move the hearts and minds of her people. What will actually work to help take back Mandalore! Din might actually be exactly what she needs, while Boba will be a thorn in her side. As Din sets a good example, clad in pure Beskar with a code of honor and the Darksaber, Boba will be running the underworld giving Mandalorians a bad image because no one knows any better. I'm very interested to see this play out.

I get it... she took it once without winning it in battle, then lost it to Moff Gideon, if she was to be "gifted" the saber again by the person (another Mandalorian) who beat Moff Gideon thats just game over for her lore as ruler... The Mandos wont respect that and she knows it... They will follow Din when they hear the story...

I think it makes sense, she was reluctant to take it last time, but she did and her attempt to reunite Mandalore failed. she now realizes that in order to reunite her people she has to be the rightful owner of the dark saber. she wasn't last time and that's why she failed. since Grogu is gone, next season, din will be the one to reunite Mandlaore and I don't think Bo will try to take it from him

In Rebels the Mandalorian clans were backing Bo Katan as leader before she even had the darksaber so all she had to do then was accept it from Sabine because the clans were already with her. But now she has lost the saber to Gideon and in doing so she has lost the respect from the Mandalorian clans, she now has to prove herself worthy of the darksaber this time by defeating Din in combat. Then she will have gained the respect and trust from the Mandalorian clans again in order to rule and be accepted as leader of Mandalore.
@justchilling7044 жыл бұрын
We don't even know how he got it, Gideon probably just stole it, I doubt he won it in combat so it should still be Bo's.
@jagray024 жыл бұрын
If Gideon won it from Bo, this is the most likely explanation imo. Since she didn’t earn it in combat the first time, if she lost it to Gideon, and Dinn won it back FOR her, she looks extremely weak by accepting it.
@balletabela4 жыл бұрын
In my most recent rewatch, I finally caught the one word that explains it: again. "In order for her to wield the Dark Saber AGAIN..." So apparently, if you already had it once, in order to take possession, you must defeat the new owner in combat. Filoni is a genius. It makes sense because if you were a royal who inherited it and then lost it, the Mandalore way would be a battle for the saber.
@jamesdigriz54494 жыл бұрын
The last episode made perfect sense to me. Baby Yoda is now off to his training, Mando needs to get his hands busy with a new mission, which is now obviously helping take back Mandalore and him being a leader or at least a partner of Bo Katan in whatever framework the two decide they go forward.
@GdayM8yPat8y4 жыл бұрын
I think we have to consider that the people of Mandalore most likely don't know that Maul fought Sidious and lost to him. That fight was between Maul, Sidious, and Savage. No one witnessed it, and as far as I know, Palpatine never claimed the sword for himself. As far as anyone knows, Maul is still the rightful owner as he claims to be the ruler in season 7 despite not having the Darksaber. He probably doesn't want anyone to know. So while Palpatine technically is the rightful ruler, Maul won't tell anyone so he can maintain power. In regards to Sabine, she never earned the Darksaber. She didn't fight anyone for it, she found it in a cave while she was under mind control. She is not the rightful wielder. So when she hands it to Bo Katan, she can assume Maul is dead, and not know of Palpatines right to it. The sword is up for grabs. We don't know how Gideon acquired it, if it was in combat then he is the rightful ruler. If not, then he is not a rightful ruler and thus has no true claim (like Sabine) and is not a true wielder. But the fact that he mentions the importance of winning it in combat means he could have won it. Either way, Din beat him in single combat. The tradition is restored and Din may claim the sword because Maul is dead and Palpatine is "dead." (Everyone believes he is dead at this point in the timeline.) If Gideon won the sword in combat, then by beating him, Din is the rightful ruler. If Gideon did not win the sword, then Din still has a claim to it because he earned it through combat regardless of whether or not there was a "true" ruler. Those are just my thoughts but I'd love to hear if anyone has anything to add. This is just how I've justified the scene. I think this makes sense in regards to everything we've seen of the Darksaber but maybe SW Theory will see this comment and make more sense of out it XD.
@kungolaf44994 жыл бұрын
Well basically Obi-Wan is the rightful ruler since he kills Maul. And then Vader kills Obi-Wan... And then the official history of the Star Wars universe claims that Luke Skywalker defeared the Emperor (secret rightful owner) and Vader (the other secret rightful owner). Luke Skywalker is the rightful ruler of Mandalore in the official history of the universe and Maul (after losing to Sidious), Sabine (after finding it), Bo (after having been given it) ans Gideon (after taking it through Imperial and technological means without even killing Bo) are just pretenders. So what Luke should have done is come in and take the child and the saber.

@@kungolaf4499 but there is a problem: Luke throw away his lightsaber after defeating Vader, yet Palpatine defeat Luke by releasing sith lightening, then defeated by Vader by throwing Palpatine into reactor and Vader is dead...So, technically there is no rightful owner until Din?

@@jackykwan3241 I don't know if you guys are doing this for laughs, but there is an easy explanation here...Mandalore's code is inherently flawed. As such, it guarantees the ultimate destruction of its people. While they bickered over the code, Gideon got in some extra shots. Parallels exist with Anakin/Dooku and Mace/Palpatine.

They fucking NEED to elaborate on this farcical shit 😆 It would have been so much better if Bo was defeated and killed by Gideon. After all during the Purge, the Empire was there to fucking exterminate Mandos, and yet Gideon leaves her alive. Was this a rogue decision of his or does Bo-Katan just forget where she keeps her personal belongings and Gideon just happened to pick the saber off the floor? I gotta tell you this one inconsistent arc alone is kind of beginning to punch holes in the show’s narrative.
