I dare say that Bo-Katans fleet gives the mandalorian remnants a significant chance in combat. Especially if the Children of the Watch and Bo-Katans mando troopers, along with other members joining the fleet becomes enough to provide enough crew for all 8 Kom`rk fighters, Gozanti cruisers and the Arquitens cruiser. And while unlikely, if Boba Fett agrees to join, the Slave 1 would provide a great amount of firepower to the fleet.

Lego released a Tie Interceptor vs Mandalorian Fang Fighter double pack, so undoubtedly they have some behind the scenes prior knowledge of what's to come, so there is already grounds for other Mando ships in the show.

I think seeing more mandalorian clan remnants would be really cool. Clan wren had a size-able force even by the time of the imperial conflict with the mandalorians we see in rebels. They had enough fang fighters to spare to fight at atollon and manpower onboard their captured gauntlet. Hope they return in this season or season 4!!

Playing Empire at War really gives you a bit of perspective on fleet combat in Star Wars. Most of what we see in the movies and shows is simply background for whatever the main characters are doing, and is highly influenced by the Force and plot armor meddling. In reality, as impressive as something like an Arquitens light cruiser is, a single ISD2 - the traditional Star Destroyer we see in the movies - would easily be able to take on several of them at the same time without suffering a scratch, and potentially 10 or more while taking moderate damage. In fact, throughout all of the Star Wars movies and shows, we rarely see large ships defeated in fleet battles through normal means, it is almost always strike teams that overload hyperdrives, plant bombs, or do other various boarding actions to disable or destroy. If you also take into account that the Empire had a thousand or so Star Destroyers at the time of ROTJ, it is safe to assume that the imperial remnant, which will likely be the main force opposing the Mandalorians reclaiming their homeworld, has a decent few of them. If the Mandalorians are going to be successful in fleet actions against such an opponent, they are going to need significantly more firepower than is shown here. Granted, they haven't really started banding together with other Mandalorian groups or clans yet, so I'm hoping we get to see some larger ships added to the fleet, such as Jehavey'ir assault ships, Kyramud battleships, Keldabe battleships, and Kandosii dreadnoughts. Not only would this lead to some impressive and visually pleasing battles, but it would also be an awesome call back to the Old Republic and neo-crusader era. Also if you've read the comics you know that Kandosiis and Basilisk War Droids are kind of a staple to Mandalorian fleets, so we definitely need some of those at the very least.

Truthfully, when I first saw that pirate cruiser earlier in the season, I was hoping that it would be captured somehow and turned into a mobile home for Djinn's culvert, and I was a bit sad that it got destroyed instead. However, considering that it looks like they're getting Gideon's cruiser instead, it's not that big of a loss in hindsight.

I was assuming the strategy would be to board the Corsair with jet packs catch the pirates on the back foot. they’re used to ambushing weaker opponents, defending from well trained and disciplined soldiers is a whole different animal. And most of the crew is on the ground occupying the town, I’d be surprised if there was anything other than a skeleton crew manning the guns and critical systems. After all you can’t bombard the city if you’re busy repelling boarders. And once you own the sky’s the surveying ground forces are easy to mop up

Eventually, maybe, but there's logic in remaining non-descript and so not drawing unwanted attention. At this stage the Mandos need to stick below the radar and keep building. With the imperial remnants, new republic and coming first order all outnumbering them they'd be wise to stay discrete until after episode 9. I mean, as much as Lando managed to bring that fleet in episode 9 i don't see that translating into a new power structure for the galaxy. There's no one really left to turn the Resistance into a new government the way the Rebel Alliance transitioned into the New Republic. All those with political experience in the Old and New Republics are dead, Lando has leadership qualities and experience but i think he lacks the desire to sit behind a desk, and Poe may want to restore the Republic but he has neither the gravitas nor political contacts that Leia and Mon Mothma had to realise it. And it honestly looked like Rey and Finn would be off to start a new Jedi Order, meaning they won't have time for building a political union across the galaxy. After episode 9 would be the perfect time for the Mandalorians to come out of the shadows. There'd be no ready-made opposition to prevent their initial emergence and Mandalore is in the Mid Rim adjacent to two major hyperlanes that run from the core to the Outer Rim so they'd be able to expand quickly outward from there to secure their position before anyone could respond. I doubt they'd take the whole galaxy but they could certainly become a regional superpower in the post-sequel political vacuum. After that it depends what other cultures and worlds would build up elsewhere in response. The Corellians are well-positioned to do so. If they allied with their traditional Duro allies and brought the Sullustans into that alliance they'd control major junctions on another 3 major hyperlanes and the trade that comes through them (with one of those routes linking up to the Kessel Run).

Really cool video. Although I must say that when watching the episode I was shocked at the scale of the Arquitens Cruiser. When we first saw it, it was clearly way bigger than a regular one, probably twice the size since it could fit a Lambda. We should be talking about a 650m long ship (assuming all the proportions stay the same, even though it looks wider) yet it seemed to be scaled to the regular 325m length, smh. I wish they could stay consistent with stuff like this, but whatever, I'm happy with it regardless

My theory (and it’s just a theory) is that the finale challenge will be Bos Fleet Vs and ISD. But where would Moff Gideon get an ISD? I think that Thrawn is the one who orchestrated Gideon’s interception and pinned it on the Mandalorian Mercenaries. We know thrawn is trying to rebuild the Empire. One of the ways he could be doing this is reuniting the scattered warlords and equipping them with the proper tools to defend their secret assets. I think the secret asset in this case is a rich Beskar Mine discovered on the planet, they destroyed mandalore and made it seem uninhabitable so they could mine the ore and form it into armor for their troopers or dark troopers, seeing as how the empire is so scattered and few in number they need some sort of edge. This is my little theory rant after seeing the Ahsoka trailer and trying to put together pieces with hinting of something big coming, every season feels like the final boss gets bigger and bigger, the only thing bigger than a light cruiser to me is an ISD, it would be more than a challenge for Bos fleet.

The Arquitens Light Cruiser they possess is half that size and provides a flexible deployment in being able to fire from long range. It has enough firepower to make a difference but isn't a brawler.

@@Muffinkakes1 Straight up facts. Acclamators were severely underused in the Empire and Rebellion despite being able to deploy an entire division of ground troops and armor. I do agree that they can also be a force multiplier in space combat due to possessing missiles and can be slapped with enough turbolasers batteries to be considered a serious threat if left unchecked. I'd hate to imagine how powerful it'd be if it had a couple ion cannons even though it can have an entire fighter and bomber wing which could do the same job. Actually, it can probably have both though more space would need to be taken which would reduce it's ground complement.

For the task of resettling/reclaiming mandalore, it's pretty adequate. Can easily be used to move other mandalorian cells onto world and move between mandlore, Nevarro and the most recent planet (can't remember it's name) and will easily be able to hold of pirated which seem to be the most prominent threat atm

Great breakdown, however I don''t think its a question of if, but rather when this fleet will have to engage with imperial remnants. The strike force that hit Bo's home was quite sizeable, honestly it seemed like a Star destroyer sized complement, however the Ties could have also been based on a different planet in the mandalorian system. I think its an important distinction to make that when they say "its time to retake mandalore" they are probably reffering to the entire system not just the planet. Clearly the Empire still has a large presence in the system, so the bar we need to compare it to right now is that fighter swarm we saw at the Kryze castle. I wonder if the Imps are packing any large capital ships.

I personal think the reason why most imperials think Thrawn is dead is because cover up. I think the emperor made a cover story that Thrawn had died on some kind of accident on his way to lothal to cover up the fact that his whole fleet was basically destroyed.

It seems the children of the watch and Bo's forces will team up and move to the mandalore Home system by the end of the season only to be greeted by the imperial fleet which is home to the large fighter squadron that destroyed Bo's home earlier in the season.. and thats when we'll be greeted by either Gideons new fleet or and much more likely a returned and fully equipped Thrawn and his fleet having regrouped several smaller warlords under the new Grand Moff Thrawn... they'll force the mandalorians to retreat having suffered heavy loses and a post credit scene will show Thrawn and Gideon standing over an imprisoned Ezra, leading to the real Team up of all mandalorians and Ahsoka in her Solo series later this year.

The Imperial light cruiser gives the Mandalorians firepower, the Kom'rk gives them flexibility and the Gozanti provides support, but the fleet lacks cover. IMO, they need a corvette or two, maybe even a frigate. Two CR90s or Hammerheads could provide screening duties for the light cruiser and Gozantis, keeping TIEs and other fighters off their back as they operate. Similarly both Consular and Nebulon-B class frigates were designed to serve as support and escort vessels. Or, if you're feeling bold, a Munificent class frigate could serve as a second arm of the fleet. Strong enough to serve as the centre of a second strike group, but operable with a small enough crew that you don't stretch your troops too thin. I dunno, the fleet feels vulnerable to escort fighters at the moment

It's such a shame to me that in the modern Canon everybody forgot about how the clones were raised mandolorian and a number settled on mandolore after leaving the empire. Clone commandos were the ones most likely to emigrate to madolore after the clone wars, and they weren't sterile. Would love to see a group of mandolorians being the son and daughters of these clones.

Kom'rk ships are one of my favorite in Star Wars universe, both fast and practical, versatile

Honestly in the hands of competent Mandalorians this fleet is actually far more powerful than you first think, sure it might not on paper do well against a Star Destroyer (or more than one), but given that each Gauntlet fighter can carry a squad at the least they can perform boarding actions, letting their armour soak up hits from stormtroopers and the like and quickly fight their way through and seizing larger vessels, assuming they can either land in the fighter bay or land on the hull somehow and cut their way on board. This fleet vs a single Star Destroyer goes very, very quickly in favour of the Mandalorians, quickly winning them the Star Destroyer by right of conquest, even if that means executing every Imperial on board. Its when its at least 3 to 4, maybe even 5 Star Destroyers and their entire compliments of Tie Fighters etc that it quickly tips the scales against them and they're probably better off disengaging and retreating. The Mandalorians fight as a Commando/Special Forces type raider force so they excel in picking off single targets, not a slugging match against an organised force. Depending on how they did this and if they could capture and convert Imperials into new Mandalorians (assuming there's no age limit on becoming a recruit) they could very, very, very quickly become a terrifyingly large force, we're talking potentially thousands of Mandalorians. Hell even addressing the pirate threat, I think it was really dumb for them to blow up the Corsair on Navarro, they could have taken it, and in the future they should take every possible opportunity to seize new vessels, pirate, imperial or otherwise. Even making a tentative peace with the New Republic, possibly even a strained alliance could benefit them massively.

As you said, the fleet is not powerfull in his firepower but more in his versatility. it's all about strategy : coming out from the hyperspace, next to an ISD, launch a few mandalorians with jetpacks, infiltrate the Destroyer and take controll of it by the inside seem to be a good strategy. If they can just launch 200 soldiers on the ship, they can take control of it very rapidely. (No way they could jump on an IST with his full capacity crew : maybe 1000 or 2000 stormtroopers that assure security but even if it's a big number, fighting in the corridors and running to the ship deck should be an easy task).

I’d love to add a Quasar-Fire II carrier cruiser - carrying 24 Fang fighters (in addition to the six carried in their light cruiser) - and two Sphyrna-class “Hammerhead” corvettes (the idea of a heavily armoured/heavily armed capital ship designed for ramming other ships, just seems like the ship a Mandalorian would love!). Both ships have a small crew requirement - 250, including crew, pilots and technicians for the Quasar Fire; and 46 each for the Sphyrna’s - which totals the fleet to 8 capital ships, 8 assault ships (the Kom’rks), and 30 Fang fighters, supporting a battalion strength (600 or so) of Mandalorian soldiers. All in all, total manpower needed would be a little over 1,200 - definitely a plausible number of Mandalorian’s for a small battle squadron/fleet, and all can be readily found in the Outer Rim. Thoughts?

QUESTION: I know Mandalore is not poisonous, but it is thrashed. The surface has been totally crystalized. I understand returning to the native homeland. But there are options, albeit still difficult. Why not colonize Concordia? Din Djarin grew up there, so its habitable. And it seems to at least be more hospitable than Mandalore does at the moment. I know Concord Dawn is pretty much blasted away. Also, couldn't the Children of the Watch work something out with the exile Old Mandalorians on Gargon? I'm just saying there are options within the system itself.

I would add some R-41s if possible. The rebels had really good luck at the start of this civil war with them . And there are updated ones now.

It's not exactly a fleet, more of a flotilla, but it is a good core for expansion. In a hypothetical scenario the Mandalorians could offer a fast response to many planets in trouble like Nevarro was. That would gain them some income to reclaim Mandalore and keep their equipment in shape. Taking apart the Pirate Nation would gain them more ships. they might not be as good as others, but it would allow them further expansion of their protective services. They could gain independent systems as allies as well as some trust from the New Republic, if they helped out systems that are part of the New Republic. That would cement them as a small, independent power. That would enable them to take on recruits. be it as basic population or as future full Mandalorians. All that would net them an independent supply base from which to expand further. Considering from what we have seen, there are planets where a single lightly armed freighter could take over an entire planet or at least raid it, even if they were part of the New Republic. So, there would be enough protective work for a group like the Mandalorians.

I am still a little disapointed that the Mandalorians didn't jump out and board the Privateer ship - they could have easily flown into those gun ports. Would have been another cool ship for their fleet & some great boarding action scenes.

That ship was cool but like the episode showed it struggled greatly against a small competent force, it's good for threatening mostly the defenceless, typical of pirates, it's just a nuisance

An imperial arquetens, 5 or 6 gozantis, and maybe up to a couple dozen of their fighter transports. The big ship would be a heavy destroyer or light cruiser, the gozantis are basically armed/armored freighters, and while their gauntlet class transports are lethal they are still far larger targets than a regular snubfighter. Assuming they have as many fighters as the big ships can carry they would have fewer than 10 on the big boy, and gozantis could carry four tie fighters externaly on docking clamps. They are at real risk just from the forces we saw on screen, but at the same time it coukd be a fair fight if the imps dont succeeed in an ambush.... If a star destroyer shows up or gideon has more fighters than we saw on screen, the mandos are in real trouble.

Perhaps a gladiator Class? It would be narratively unique, showing how Gideon/thrawn have had to adapt to a time where a star destroyer isn't viable and fighters are paramount. It would also be perfect if there was also an acclimator, crash into it with the arquitens, then board the gladiator, a perfect ship for mandalore.

It seems like the Gauntlet is a better Close Ground Support craft than dogfighter. Like an A-10 on steroids. Bo used the terrain of her world to give her an advantage in the fight with the TIE-Interceptors, but put her out in the open for an extended period of time and the Interceptors would've chewed her up. Yes, it can shoot at dedicated fighter class ships, but that rear gun is defensive for a reason. It's there to give the Gauntlet time to get away during a Close Ground Support mission. It attacked the pirate ship in a CAS role (essentially strafing runs against a slower target). The thrust vectoring was impressive, but in a would where repulsor technology exists, experience would teach enemies of the Gauntlet to follow from a medium to longer distance to keep the Gauntlet bracketed even during thrust vectoring. Having said all of that, next to the B-Wing, the Gauntlet is my second favorite Star Wars starfighter. :-)

The strategy I see is to use this fleet to liberate the fields of decommissioned Star Destroyers still fully stocked on the Coruscant ship yards. This fleet, plus 3-4 Star Destroyers and full compliment of fighters is plenty.

this is just speculation but I think they have 48 kom'rk class fighters-transports, four Gazanti transports, four lamba shuttles, 8 imperial shuttles (arquitnes ship bound), and possibly 32 spare tie fighter craft of mixed type (assuming they didn't scrap them) which is apart of the retinue of the Arquitens class command cruiser and Gazanti. I would think they picked up some V-wings from cold storage and possibly some "scraped" ships. as far as possible additions I think there are some arquitens class (not command) ships they might have, though given the Disney rewrite problem It may be one heavily modified command ship and three regular command ships without upgrades. I would think that there are a shitton more kom'rk class fighter transports as those appear to suit the nomadic lifestyle of the mandalorians so assuming that the landed forces count as a "patrol" as they resting I would think they have: 1 Super command arquitens (Giden's flag ship) 3 command Varinat arquitens 8 Gazanti 66 Tie/ln 21 Tie Bomber 21 Tie interceptor 149 kom'rk fighter transports 1 N-1 naboo starfighter 7 lamba shuttles (one was taken by the new republic) 12 imperial shuttles parts for 40 darktroopers, presumed scrapped. if the show's creators don't want the mandalorians to scrap a lot of the imperial tech, then I suggest building Basilisk drones from the Tie and dark trooper parts as the programming for the dark trooper is actually pretty 1:1 what a basilisk drone is.

During the arc of the it’s clearly visible that they have several of the Fang fighters, but sadly lost their Arquitens ship. Hopefully they can continue to export their services as mercenaries and as hoc planetary defense to earn some much-needed cash to start building, buying, and otherwise acquiring more ships (and the means to sustain and maintain them).
