I think Craig David considered himself to be an international R&B star and started singing about himself to the extent that it irritated people so they decided to make the parody the most non international regional British character with the most ferocious Yorkshire accent imaginable(although I believe he comes from Southampton) to bring him down to earth.The British like people who are self deprecating and dislike people who are full of themselves,hence the bo selecta parody.
