Master Jakub's accuracy with the bo-shuriken is absolutely terrifying. I didn't think such a small weapon could be as accurate as the heavier knives...

If you visit Japan you should train with Soke Otsuka in the Meifushinkageryu it’s a great experience! You will learn about how deadly it can become.

People always want to know which thing is the "best". Funny thing is that the "best" depends on the person and which one they have practiced with most. Whichever tool you are more likely to use and practice with will be the "best for you". It's like when people ask what is the best guitar. The answer is, "the one you can afford, or the one you will play most often". Because tools don't make you better, practice does. 🤘😉

Really enjoyed this episode!! I am a big fan of throwing knives (especially the top dog featured in the video), but the bo shuriken look like a good thing to have on hand as well

Hi Adam, in my opinion. I believe the bo-shuriken is effective as a concealed very close range weapon. Or , at longer range more of a diversionary weapon . To distract the enemy long enough to counter attack with a sword or tanto. Although , my favorite are the throwing knives. In my opinion the throwing knives have more "shocking" and "killing power" due to the weight and length of the blade. Consequently, you can get more theoretical killing power due to increased penetration. I am starting out with no spin throwing techniques because it is more versatile at normal combat or self-defense ranges. I received a set of Stinger Air throwing knives. The weight seems just about right for me. Furthermore, from your previous video. The Stinger Air can be used for the "no reload" technique. One, question. Should I also purchase the "original" Stinger, too? Or, just continue my training with the Stinger Air? In other words. Would it help me learn the "no spin" technique faster if I purchased the "original" Stinger. Which is thicker and slightly heavier than the Stinger Air. Thank you Adam.

I’ve thrown axes for years so Kama is what I would prefer. Not only is it an effective hand held weapon you are able too throw it with excellent accuracy.

Prefer shuriken. Anything can be used depending on the situation and weapons of opportunity available. A handful of pebbles, pocket change a handful of grass. Very versatile.

Throwing knives may be heavier and cause more trauma but shuriken dipped in poison or animal / human feces can kill or cause death through infection quite easily. Small throwing spikes and knives weren't used to kill like in films they were used more as a deterrent

Excellent videos. Great information, and entertaining. Shuriken were more of a harassment weapon of distraction to give you the opportunity to either attack or evade. Such is my understanding. To be extra nasty, one would dip the tips in poison or human feces to poison or make the enemy sick after the initial attack.

With a touch of poison the bo shuriken is a terrifying thing. Without it its an amazing distraction. And if you take out an eye. I don't care what anyone says. That creates a blind spot.

@ninja It's the technique of the bo-shuriken. If you look at the Lords of the Blades episode on bo-shurikens then you'll understand why. It's more about the flick of the wrist with something so small, while Adam is throwing a hefty throwing knife which requires the bigger motion to sling the knife.
