Zatoichi is my guy. I always wanted to know if there was any real basis of people, handicapped or otherwise walking around with sword canes and now my question is answered .Now I need one that is not like my sword cane that hides a 16 inch spike.

Oh & in the case of Musashi & the demon of the south, bigger technically did matter. Musashi beat him by learning the length of his sword & carving a boat paddle a few inches longer so he had reach advantage.

Very nice. I have a few myself. My favorite is my Chisa katana though. Slightly shorter blade than the standard but in a standard length saya. Made specifically for quicker unsheathing/drawing strikes.

Uchiko should not be used on Nihonto with good polish as it gradually ruins the polish. Micro fibre is the modern replacement. Also if any uchiko powder is accidentally left on the blade in attracts moisture and can rust the blade. Preservation of Nihonto should always be first priority. Thanks for the interesting videos

I love the respect shown for the blades. Even on my own property, I always bow to my katana before and after waza, as well as thanking the smith for creating the blade. Respect is key.

Wakizashi were also used for ritual suicide. - Seppuku. The Japanese believed in death before dishonor, and often would ask their adversary to assist them in a beheading / seppuku, should they lose to them in battle.
