I don't care that much about Hanock, but it bothers me when people say that the reason she fell for Luffy was because he resisted her power when it seemed far more important in the story that it was his combination of strength, thoughtfulness toward Hancock's sisters, and willingness to sacrifice for others despite being a "Conqueror" that won her over. I actually give Oda credit for NOT writing such a lame reason behind her infatuation despite his less than stellar track record handling the ladies in One Piece, so when it gets labelled as "she likes him because he doesn't lust after her" regardless it makes me a little sad.

People react and change differently to even similar events. Hancock and her sisters went through the same horrible situation yet they have different mentalities afterwards. Her sisters grew distrust toward outsiders yet still retained their trust to their people. Hancock grew distrust toward everyone. She doesn't trust anyone but herself. The effect of her devil fruit solidified her choice since even her own people lust for her. I believe Hancock hates her appearance since it caused so many people to lust for her. So to cope with it, she takes on the bitchy attitude. However, Luffy was completely unfazed by fruit and her beauty. For Hancock, who mostly was lusted for by others, this meant the world to her which is why she fell in love with Luffy and truly cares for him. However, she still doesn't have her trust for others which is why she still has the stuck up attitude. But Luffy's affect on her will soon change that.

I like to think that the Love Love Fruit has some kind of passive effect on the user's appearance with time in order to enhance the effectiveness. Kind of like, the fruit didn't happen to end up with a super attractive woman but rather she's more attractive than she would have been had she not gotten the fruit. Of course it's pure head canon basically but I like the idea.

How I view it is that, the love beam technique is the least taxing for her as it uses lust already present to turn people to stone. Other techniques require a certain degree of energy from her, like she forces a person to briefly feel lust for her when using perfume femur and slave arrow which then turns them to stone. The reason she uses these less efficient techniques is as you said, there is no garrentee that the opponent feels lust for her, so these are more combat applicable that the regular love beam.

Hancock is so underrated. She is a Conqueror in her prime. And her having the King's Disposition isn't just for knocking out fodder, it's primary function is to show the strength of it's user's Will, their Vigor & Drive. Those are what puts a Conqueror on a cut above the rest. If Oda ever gave her a legit fight, I hope he shows that she is not inferior to the likes of Doffy or Kuma.

The way I've always viewed Devil Fruits is that they give your body the ability to do fantastic things, but how you believe they work and how you choose to implement them is a greater influence than the fruit itself. Even with Ace and Sabo eating the exact same fruit, they don't use the same abilities. Two users don't use it the same way necessarily. Blackbeard uses Whitebeard's fruit similarly because he knew what Whitebeard would do with his power, knew his stances and techniques, and he just replicated them. But with no knowledge of how to use the fruit, he might have implemented the abilities entirely differently. So in the case of Hancock, its not so much that the fruit's abilities are necessarily turning people to stone for various reasons, but she has practiced with her fruit and come up with these attacks and found what worked and what didn't.

I think hancock was originally supposed to have a mythical zoan fruit, the gorgon gorgon no mi but like halfway through the concept oda realised we didn't have enough busty babes in the story so she turn a possibly ugly character (since the gorgon in most mythology is generally seen to have an ugly face though there have have been a few times where gorgons have a less horrifying face.) and turned her into the most likable yet somehow least likable character in the whole story.

It's implied that Hancock was used a sex slave, meaning raped and sexually abused repeatedly. While her sisters were also slaves, they state that Hancock protected her younger sisters, implying that she was the one who was raped and they were not. (Plus, that kind of makes sense with their looks and how only Hancock's DF is lust-related.) Yes, Hancock is bitchy, but she went through a lot of sexual trauma that presumably her sisters did not. To the point: Maybe this is more for a discussion about Big Mom's devil fruit power, but in this way they are similar, but I was thinking Conqueror's Haki plays a role in enhancing the ability, or to what extent it does this. Hancock has Conqueror's Haki and among the benefits, you can tame sea kings with it. It's an ability that forces others to bend to you and your will (haki literally). Hancock's devil fruit ability allows her to turn people to stone exploiting their base desires for her. It's called the "love love fruit" and love makes us do crazy things for the one we can't live without. Big Mom's power (who is also a strong female pirate who has Conqueror's haki) is that she can take your lifeforce from you if you fear her, and I imagine Conqueror's haki helps instill fear in prey before you reach in and grab handfuls of lifeforce. Basically, if you gave Hancock's power not to a fugly, but an equally attractive woman but she doesn't have Conqueror's haki, would it be equally powerful or at least potential to be equally powerful even without the Conqueror's haki? How about Big Mom's power to someone without Conqueror's haki, everything else being equal?

What may help it make better sense. They called them the gorgon sisters. In some of the classic literature, Medusa did not petrify with her gaze, but by touching them with some part of her body, usually her tail. This was additional punishment, that any she attempted to even touch, would suffer the curse all the same, even if she did not look upon them. So as you said, Hancock could do it with kicks, as she does not have a tail, but the parallels are there.

Her personality isn't that way because of her slave past, it's that way because she's beautiful and she knows it. Have you seen any supermodel at all, they all act like superior bitches, but they'll be loyal to death if you can get the time of day from one of them.. As for her powers, it doesn't say that it only affects people thinking of Her, it could possibly affect anyone thinking any sexual thoughts about anyone at the moment of contact. Luffy wasn't affected because he thought it was the slow slow beam. So he might not actually be immune, as for chopper.. just cause he's not "attracted" to human woman doesn't mean he'll be immune either. I'm sure he still has impure thoughts bouncing around in that childlike brain of his. Her ability to turn the generic people into stone with her lust might be an interaction with her Conqueror's Haki? Considering as a technique it is used to deal with many weak enemies at once, it is likely just her Devil Fruit ability interacting with that. That would explain why the gun and and physical strikes *force* lust upon the opponent, like cupid's arrow and her scent (Perfume Femur).
